Anyone else's 12+mo old not walking yet?

I know they say not to worry until 18 months old, but my 13 mo is still not walking on her own. She will cruise holding onto things and can stand by herself for about 15 seconds but she doesn't even want to try to take steps without holding our hand. She gets down on her knees and crawls or walks on all fours like a crab. Maybe I'm just more sensitive since I'm 8 months pregnant and would love to stop carrying her everywhere. Anyone else have late walkers? Can you do anything to encourage them to walk?

My little girl is not walking either. She will hold on to things and cruise but that is it. She is starting so stand up on her own for a few sec and then she falls down again.

My son, who is 2 now, did everything early, so I was so surprised when he didn't walk early. He started walking about 14-15 months.

Sarah didn't really start until 14 months, she wanted to hold onto something before that. now she's 18 months and i can't get her to stop walking.

my son is 2 now, but he didnt walk until 16 months!!! i know how you feel, but anyday now she will take off. and its true dont worry till 18 months. in my head i had myself all worried. when boom, 16 months, he took off. no worries.

Don't worry! Everyone one is so different. For us it was on the early side...my son was walking at 9 months!

My son isn't walking yet either. He is 13 months (will be 14 months on the 23rd)

He stands and takes steps to you and then leaps. I know how you feel - it seems everyone else is walking by a year. I know Ryan and he'll do it when he wants to. He didn'y crawl till 10 1/2 months.

Don't worry. How are you feeling. I'm almost 12 weeks preg.

Jake is 13 months and still not walking either. Don't worry - they walk when they are ready. They say there's no need to be concerned until around 16 months or so.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying not having to worry about all the bumps, bruises and tears that will surely come with walking. Jake cruises, climbs, knows how to get off the bed, crawls at 50 mph - and that alone is almost more than I can handle!

Thanks everyone for the reassurance that its normal! I know all of our kids will be walking soon and they all do things at their own pace. Just hard to keep that in perspective when you're very pregnant and have to pick up a 22lb child yet again!!

My 4.5 year old didn't walk until he was 16 months.
My 14 month old doesn't walk yet. He stands and cruises.
Every child is different. When they do start walking, you kinda wish for the simpler days...before they knew how to walk!

Hayley just started to crawl at almost 11 months. she makes no attempt to pull her self up to cruise along the furniture.

Bryan started at a day shy of 13 months but here we are 3 weeks later and he still hasnt really mastered it- he only walks at home and not all the time- he still crawls alot.

Miranda is almost 11 months and is barely crawling so I am pretty certain she will be no where near walking by 12 months. I try not to worry and realize she'll do things in her own time but sometimes I wonder why it's taking her so long.

Congrats!!! Are you over the very tired part of the first trimester yet? I am counting the days till my due date. Its really hard right now but I know theres an end in sight. Plus cooler weather coming soon.

My son, Max, who is 5 years old, didn't walk until he was 16 months. My daughter, Bella is 18 months, and she started when she was 14 months. Both of them walk just fine now.

Does your daughter talk a lot? My ped. told me that babies who talk a lot sometimes concentrate on that, since they feel confident in that area, then start walking later, when talking isn't such a novelty. Both of my kids were early talkers.

I was really upset when my son wasn't walking yet at 15 montsh. A friend of mine smiled and said, "My son didn't walk until he was 18 and a half months. He graduated from Harvard and Harvard medical school." Clearly, when you walk isnot an indicator of intelligence!

Antonio is almost 12 months and he is no where close to walking. He just does not have the coordination yet.

A baby can walk anywhere between 9-18 months. Some babies are just so content crawling they really don't have a need to walk yet. I know it's hard not to worry especially when that is the first question people ask. I was thinking of buying this onesie I saw in a magazine that says "Not walking yet"

My cousin did not walk till she was 16 months and she is on the National Honor Society. I walked early and I never even knew about the honor society!

My 1st didn't start until 13.5 months and my 2nd will be 1 tomorrow and although he's taken several steps a few times, he's no where near walking. It'll happen soon enough.

Jesse started walking at 14.5 months and he's getting better every day. He crawled and cruised forever - seemed like he would never actually walk. He was just content the way things were. We encouraged him and tempted him with a toy (DH had the toy down the hall, and I was holding DS steady while he stood, then let go - he went for the toy). As he gets more and more comfortable, he walks more and more. Don't worry - they walk when they're ready.
