Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
He's so not a handyman (I wish he was), but he has absolutely no desire to get to work in updating our house so we can try to sell it this summer/fall. He says it would be good to do this, and that but no action from him what so ever. I know he doesn't want to spend his free time doing work on the house, but things have to get done in order for us to sell it. I can't do much by myself with 2 kids. Anyone else dealing with this? Why can't he be the type to just want to do things to make it better. He's soooo lazy!!!

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
The last thing my husband wants to do on weekend is things around the house. If your husband is working full time, i dont think its necessarily lazy to just want to relax on his free time. But unfortunately if you want to put in on the market this spring, he's gonna have to suck it up! Ask him to watch the kids while you fix things up. I bet that gets his azz in motion really fast!

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
My dh CAN fix things so it is not too bad but sometimes I have to push him to do things. If I write a list of things that needs to be done, he feels more motivated. Sometimes he rushes to do things to get them done that they are not perfect, like my dd's paint in her room. He was very sloppy but it has been fixed with border-lol!!

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
I have the opposite problem, I have to hold him back. He is a contractor and loves what he does, he is constantly updating and changing and re-painting and building things for our home.
It is nice and I am very lucky, but I sometimes get sick of living in construction 24/7.

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
I'm the handy one, not DH, and he's not motivated on top of it. His job requires long hours and he spends part of it working from a home office so the last thing he wants to do during his time off is more work. We've had a half-painted hallway for about 2 years, and many other partially completed jobs. It's one thing I want to try and get back on track! I wish he took more interest and pride in fixing up the place.

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
the complete opposite - he is SUPER motivated, to the point he is going to burn himself out-
today (mind you we havent moved in yet, still doing renovations) - he says he wants to expand the driveway (which is already big) and move the fence so he can make a basketball court)
ok honey how about bringing furniture over then we'll discuss!

I still need him to paint all the ceilings in the rooms in the house. I can't get him motivated.

We've been in our house 6-1/2 years now. While I commend DH for all the work he HAS done, I can complain a million times more for all the work he hasn't FINISHED! He is great at tearing things down and starting things and never finishing them!

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
my DH is a carpenter too & he has done tons of things we wouldn't have been able to do if we had to pay for labor. However it goes through cycles, like we barely did anything this winter & I have a two page list of stuff we could have done. Sometimes I feel bad making him set up all the tools & everything, he has to do it everyday at work. Now Spring is here & he seems a little more motivated. In your case though you guys are in a tough spot if I remember so it shouldn't even be a choice for him. My list of stuff is really stuff I want, not need. If we needed to sell my DH would work around the clock to get it done.

Re: Anyone else's DH not motivated to fix up your house?
All I realy want to do when we move in is paint and take out the carpet in 2 bedrooms. You would think I was requesting an extreme makeover. Technically it doesn't NEED to be painted, but I just want to make it my own. So annoying....I don't give up easily so I am going to keep pushing!
