Anyone elses husband have a vasectomy and now they want children?
DH and I have been married for just over a month. He was previously married and had a vasectomy after the birth of their second child (she's about to be 8 y/o). We want to have children together. He's had the vasectomy for a good few years now. Research has told me that the longer you wait to have a vasectomy reversed, the less likely it is to work (due to sperm production, etc).
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone out there is going through what I am. We've been to see a specialist about IVF, but it's all still so confusing as heck to me!!!!! I'm just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this subject for me.
Even for you girls who are going through IVF for different reasons, what can you personally tell me about it. I can ask all the medical doctors in the world, but I figure you girls can give me true insight.
Thanks so much!!!!

I don't have any first hand experience with this...but a good friend of mine had a vasectomy and had it reversed (not sure how long after...but at least 5 years) and his new wife had a baby last year. Good luck!

I definitely would see a good urologist. There are so many success stories wtih reversal that IVF may not even be something you would ever have to consider.
I believe it takes at least 3-6 months to see how successful the reversal was...

Ya know what, I guess the statistics really scared me on reversal after so many years that I never really checked out our options on this one, but I really am going to check it out. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure about the specifics, but I know a couple that went through this and did IVF and they had beautiful twins!
