Anyone ever did a big picnic/bbq at Belmont Lake State Park?

my friend wants to do a big family picnic of about 20-30 people -- and was looking at Belmont Lake State Park. Neither of us have ever been (i've always just gone to Heckscher myself) - and she was wondering if there are nice playgrounds there and grilling areas with the picnic tables?

Its not necessary to do a reservation or anything for a group of about 20-30 people right? You just go to an area and grab up some tables?

Yup. It's actually a nice park. First come, first serve, picnic areas, pavillion and playgrounds. Chat Icon

we had a work pinic there about 8 years ago, I didn't plan it & I don't know the details but i remember it being nice for what we needed it for. I think we played volleyball & had it catered by a BBQ place.

We used to have our family reunion there every year.

The playgrounds aren't huge, but they have them

They have picnic tables and grills

I am not sure about reservations or anything - but I can ask my mom if you want - she works at Belmont and used to take care of all of that stuff.

We have our family picnic there every year. It's a nice park although we are aways pretty far away from everything... They have a lake where you can rent paddle boats, fields and a playground. The area we are in has the cement BBQ pits on the ground... we usually just bring a propane grill or small charcoal grill.

I went to a party and it was dirty. I know it is a park and all, but when I mean dirty, I mean there was dirt everywhere. No grass, the picnic areas where we ate and played games was all dirt. I had on shorts and flip flops and was covered. I had to go home and wash my legs, feet, and flips.

I live only a few blocks of from the park. We have our Annual Lacrosse picnic there every yeatr. It is very nice. In some cases you need to call town hall and get a permit. If you are going to have it catered, they only allow 4 or 5 caterers. Town hall has a list of approved vendors.

Re: Anyone ever did a big picnic/bbq at Belmont Lake State Park?

Its NOT First come first serve for the pavillions. they have to be booked. We just booked one for DS's first B-day. They are $225. There are not many left thru Sept. Our first choice dates had none left.

They have BBQ pits and a few playgrounds, and obviously the lake.

The pavillions might be too big though for that many people.

We are inviting 90 people, 50 kids.

HTH.

we had my nieces 1st there last yr. it was great!
