DH and I may get a 100 year old piano that is made of mahogony with ivory keys. It plays well but needs to be tuned and have a few keys unstuck. We'll have it cleaned too. DH and his brother both know pianos well and they say it's in great shape otherwise. It is just beautiful if you ask me!!!!

We will have to hire movers though...anyone ever use a good piano mover? How much did it cost? We will be bringing it about 1.5 miles down the road and it's going from one ranch to another so there won't be more than 2 steps at either house.

When we get a house one day...I get my baby grand piano from my mother's house. I was told by the tuner to get a professional piano mover...because they'll also clean out the inside that has a pound of dust in there.

yeah, this one has a pound of dust too! It is a 100 year old Wormworth (from Canada) antique upright grand piano. I wish I could fit a baby grand in the house! It will look beautiful in your home one day.

I would say if it was a Steinway, you call them up and they have movers to move the piano... It is expensive but you need people who specialize in it.

When we moved into our house, we had my husband's Steinway Grand piano in black moved from his home growing up and that is what we did.

He got it when he was a child and his father said that when he buys a house the piano is his. I was so excited.. ( We had to find a house big enough to put it though, it is huge). Granted he is classically trained and uses it every day. Now he plays for my son....

Good luck..
