Anyone ever put their DC in daycare when they were older?
DD is now 15mths and I've been contemplating going back to work f/t but I would need to put her into some kind of p/t daycare (probably 2 days a week). For the first 15mths it's only been mommy & daddy taking care of her and occasionally grandma. We take Mommy&me classes and she loves the interaction with other children. Just curious for anyone who put their DC in daycare when they were older how was the transition?

Noah started daycare at 12 months. It was easy and he really enjoys it.

Re: Anyone ever put their DC in daycare when they were older?
I started my first at 20 months. It was hard at drop off - he cried for 5-10 minutes every morning for a month or two. But when we checked up on him 30 minutes later he would be playing away and very happy.
We started with PT too, but I almost think that was harder on him, since the other days he would go to his grandparents and that was a big amusement park with 100% attention.
It is definitely worth it though - he is learning to share and his language has EXPLODED! and I initially thought he had a delay.

Re: Anyone ever put their DC in daycare when they were older?
My eldest daughter started Early Intervention at UCP when she was 19 months old..Before that she had only Mommy & Daddy or Grandparents around her. The transition was not really a big deal. It just took a bit of time for her to realize that Mommy came back...I think it was more of a transition to the new routine than anything else. Once school became part of the routine it was easy.

Jake started daycare at 17 months. Before that he was in group family care with 3 other children.
The transition went very well. I plan to do it the same way with #2 (when the time comes)...I would maybe start a little earlier... anytime after 14 months I think.

Re: Anyone ever put their DC in daycare when they were older?
Nate started in a home based daycare with 7-8 other kids when he was 12 months. The first few weeks were tough for him, but they said within 30 min he would be OK and play with the other kids. When he was 2yrs old we changed him to a daycare that had more of a classroom setting.

We're about to. Ellie will be starting in Jan and she'll be 19 mos. I'm sure she'll be fine, but we'll see. She's super social and loves interacting with other kids.

It may take a couple of weeks to adjust to the new schedule, but in the long run it will be good for DC.
