Anyone ever replace a motor in your vehicles?

So DH got a truck for free (year 2000). I gave the guy $500 cause I felt too guilty taking it for nothing. So far we put $2k into it for repairs. Well, yesterday we found out it needs a new motor. I really don't want another payment right now so we're thinking about moving forward with replacing the motor. Most of the stuff in the truck is new and it's nice looking so it's not like it's a hunk of junk.

Please share your experiences with replacing a motor. I know nothing about this stuff and don't know if it's really worth the money.

I replace one years ago. I don't remember much of it.

If you buy a rebuilt motor it will save you a decent amount of $.

My DH has done this a few times with his Mustangs. FM me with any questions and I'll ask him for details.

A new one would be $5K+ depending on the engire.

A rebuilt one is much cheaper.

Be careful not to end up with $10K in repair to fix a "free" truck.

We just did for DH's Jeep Wrangler. He got a rebuilt one and saved over $1000. It took a week or so for it to be done. No problems since.
