Anyone ever stayed at B&B
Which one did you stay at? What is it like? How is it different from a regualr hotel, except thatgit is small and all the room are decorated diferently.
Did you at any point feel that you would like a little more privacy?
We are thinking of going to one of those for a long weekend, but I am not sure which one or if it is something we would like. Any info is appreaciated!

Well it totally depends on the B&B and where it is.
We have stayed at many and almost every one has been great. We will actually be staying at 2 different ones this weekend. I usually prefer them to the impersonal feel of a hotel.
Where are you going???

we stayed at 2 of them and both times they had bathrooms in the room. I didnt want to share a bathroom with anyone else!
That is one thing you need to watch with B&B's

We don't really have a specific destination yet. We would like to go away for 4 days to a place that has some history, good restaurants, and just an overall pleasant atmosphere.
In all honesty, the reason I was thinking of B & B was becasue they seem romantic and cozy, even tough we always stay at hotels. I am worried that it might be a littel too personal.

Re: Anyone ever stayed at B&B
I love them - you have breakfast with the owners some places but that's about it - unless you WANT to hang with them.
We are going to Lenox, MA and Manchester, VT this weekend and staying at B&Bs. We've stayed at some nice ones out on the North Fork (of LI) and in PA too. I think B&B is the way to go when you are not staying in a city...

Re: Anyone ever stayed at B&B
We just returned from our honeymoon to California and stayed at 4 different B&B's plus 2 well know hotel chains. It was the first time we had ever stayed at B&B's and they were outstanding!!! They were all classified as "luxury inns" and all of them had feather beds, jacuzzi tubs, & fireplaces. You have a lot of privacy and then there also are times when you can get together with the other guests (usually breakfast) and that was really fun too . All the inns we stayed at were members of Select Registry so check I would look into staying at one of their inns. Also, I would make sure the room has a private bath (most of the nice ones do, but I need to have my own bathroom!!!). Have a great time!!

Re: Anyone ever stayed at B&B
we have stayed at a couple of b&b's.. I personally prefer ones that are more like boutique hotels. On some counts-- it's nice to have an afternoon tea or drink and talk to other people there, but we were always the youngest by far. I also don;t like having to sit and eat breakfast with strangers.
I have some good places to reccomend in Cape May and Lambertville.

Re: Anyone ever stayed at B&B
i like them a lot. i have stayed at ones in vermont and in germany. i really liked the ones in vermont, so long as i had my own bathroom. the ones in germany were by far my favourite. i really enjoyed waking up and being in a real german home and having a real german breakfast. it was a nice cultural experience.

My sentiments exactly! I prefer not to mingle with strangers on my vacations that we are taking to spend some quality time together. I just feel that B & B are a little too personal, I think a rather prefer the anonymity of hotels.

Can you go into details? Why did you hate it? Not enough privacy?

Re: Anyone ever stayed at B&B
We just spent the weekend in MA and VT at B&Bs and they were both wonderful - our own room, our own entrance, the dog was welcome, no noise from other guests....and we had our own table and breakfast, our own bathrooms, and a TV in our room at one place. We were in the mountains, on a farm both places, so it was very rural, relaxing, and peaceful. Oh and most do not allow children.

We stayed in one in Ithaca. We had our own bathroom. It was great. I'd definitely stay in one again.
