ANyone ever taken a cruise out of NY? I have a ? about the area
I just have a question...
Is there anything around the port to walk to or see? My family is taking a limo in, and just found out they cannot embark till 6pm, when it was supposed to be at 1pm, but there is bad water, so the cruise that is returning is a little delayed. They will be there by noon or so, and was just wondering if there is anything around there...
TIA

I am not completely postitve, but I don't think there's much to do in that area. I've taken cruises out of NY, but have never really spent much time near the piers.
Sorry, that probably didn't help much.....

The Intrepid Museum is there, other than that I don't think there's much to do.

The Intrepid isn't there anymore. If anything there may be the Concorde or a little show but probably not worth it.
You're at about 53rd Street. You can walk to Time Square.

nothing really, I just got off a cruise from there last week.
Is t the Norwegian Dawn? That's what I was on. We waited for 2 hours because we got there so early, and the others who got there later just walked on.

We just went in November. It looked like a boring area. There was a dog park nearby if I recall correctly.

Their best bet is to check their luggage at the port and hop in a cab to midtown (B'way & 40's) for a good lunch and some sights.
ETA: They could also take a cab down the west side hwy to the Chelsea Piers for some ice skating or bowling and a yummy lunch at the Brewery.
