Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
I am thinking about giving it a shot. Basically you replace 2 meals with a shake or a meal bar and then have a 500 calorie dinner. You get 3 snacks and it adds up to a 1200 calorie a day diet. I need something that involves no cooking and no keeping track so thought this may work. Wondeeing if anyone ever tried it and what they thought. TIA

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
Never tried it, but IMO its only a quick fix and you will gain the weight right back when you stop. Not to mention its not a healthy way to lose weight,
I had a friend years ago that did this diet and ended up in he hospital having to get her gall bladder out because of the shakes.

I agree. You should be losing weight because of a clean diet and exercise not some gimmick.

Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
I have but it was back in HS so 20 years ago. It worked but unless you keep a 1200 cal day when you stop the shakes it will come right back. It is the same as any diet. Unless you change your eating habits it won't work long term.

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
Many many years ago my father did it and lost a decent amount of weight. However, like everyone else said, he gained it all back once he stopped it. It might be good for like 2 weeks if you want to fit into a dress for a wedding or high school reunion.... definitely not for permanent weight loss because it's not a sustainable lifestyle.

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
Slimfast is made of chemicals and sugar. There are lots of diets that claim that their product helps you lose weight (special k) if you replace breakfast and lunch with it. The reality is that if you replace your normal breakfast with any food or drink in the 100-300 calorie range you will lose weight. I looked up slim-fast and the second ingredient is sugar and the third is high-fructose corn syrup (it is not, in its own right, a healthy product) If your normal breakfast and lunch add up to 1000 calories, and you eat 600 instead, you will lose weight. That is all that Special K and Slimfast really do-lower your calorie intake. You can do the same thing more healthfully if you make a smoothie with fresh fruit and non-fat greek yogurt. or really any food that is around the same calorie count as a slimfast. Hope this helps!!

DH tried it, and he was still hungry. He thought it would be an easy way out and needless to say it wasn't.

Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
Thanks for all the replies. I know its not the healthiest choice but evem with eatting healthier and working out the scale just will not budge. Basically i need to lose like 10 lbs so i can ttc again. My dr said it will reduce the risk of pre eclampsia again or the severity of it. We want to ttc next month so i was just looking for something fast

honestly i would tried weight watchers i lost almost 10lbs on 3 weeks on it. If you are stict with it and exercise i see no problem with you being able to loose 10lbs in a month

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
I don't like anything "diet". The chemicals in diet foods and drinks make me sick.
Maybe try making your own. Replace 2 meals with smoothies you make yourself? Using veggies & Fruit. That may help you kick start your weight loss and it's healthy for you!

I completely agree with everything above. If you think the meal replacement shakes will work for you, definitely make your own with fresh fruits, veggies and low fat yogurt. There are a ton of recipes online for smoothies and it would taste better for sure! I know how frustrating it can be but hang in there

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
It works b/c it forces you to stick to 1200 calories a day - and it's a no brainer, easy way to do it ......
Beleive me, I see and agree with the no thinking just drink it appeal ......
Take it from me - as soon as you stop the easy grab and go no brainer no thinking food - the weight comes RIGHT back on .......
I did nutrisystem - lost 15 lbs - gained back 10 .......I am HATING myself !!
Like you, I need something that I don't have to obsess over - but it looks like I am just going to have stick to the boring old protien/fruit/veggie diet - Again, pretty much a no brainer, minimal prep work - but at least I'm not pumping myself full of crap -

Re: Anyone ever try the Slm Fast Diet
I did it years ago and because it showed me that I can lose weight. I stopped doing it and then made better choices. I kept the weight off for well over 10 years. It was only 10lbs. It was well over 10 years later that I gained 60lbs. I cannot blame slimfast for that. It happened because I moved from NYC to LI and I was not walking anymore and then I started to snack at night.
