I am not too familiar with the area, but the taxes may be higher than other comps in the area because it is new construction. My Aunt and Uncle ran into that problem in East Setauket.

I am right near there and I LOVE the area! We are also looking for a larger home, but want to stay in Connetquot schools (or in a choice few other districts). Drive around the streets and get a feel for what it is like...Also, the taxes on new contruction seems to be very high from what I have seen--over $10,000 in most cases while taxes for homes over there are generally around $7,000. We don't want to pay that high taxes, so I am avoiding new construction.
