Anyone feel like their friends "protect" them?

I just got some horrible news from one of my best friends... she miscarried a few weeks ago. I felt terrible hearing about this. She never told me she was pg and I just figured it was because it was early and she didn't really tell anyone. I was worried about her, but felt a little hurt when she said that she was glad she told me today because she was afraid someone would say something at a party we are going to this weekend. I felt like I was punched in the stomach... other friends knew, but I didn't?!

Then, I realized she was just trying to protect me. But, this makes me feel even more like an outsider and like I am in a "club" all by myself. The ironic part is, I realized I also protected her by not telling her that we are gearing up for FET on 6/19!

My question is... do you think I should call her and talk about this, or just let it go?

TIA

I would talk to her about it...explain how you feel. If you don't want your friends to "protect" you then you have to let them know - I'm sure she was trying to spare your feelings and do what she thought was the right thing. Sounds like you have a great friend but tell her she doesn't need to walk on eggshells around you - and that it makes you feel worse when you feel like you're not part of the group or that things are kept from you!!

Re: Anyone feel like their friends "protect" them?

right before my first pg i had two friends that i dont see that often wait to tell me they were pg because they didnt want me to feel bad. i guess it was nice of them on one hand but i also do not like to be thought of as poor her...she isnt pg yet...
now, it seems to be the oppsite. i know about 7 girls pg and all i hear about is their pg stuff OR i have those wonderful people who say OMG why are you waiting so long to have kids?? so i went from people "protecting" to some people not realizing some of the stuff you say upsets me, just bc i alrady have 1 baby doesnt mean i cant be upset that i cant have more (that is the other comment i love you should be thankful you have one....i am very thankful i love my son but im not allowed to be upset if i cant possibley have a second???)
