Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

DH and I are looking at a house in Bayport. We are both from Suffolk south shore so we know the area and have done some research on Bayport.

Just wanted to hear what you like/dislike about Bayport and Bayport/Blue Point schools.

Thanks! Chat Icon

ETA: I have another question for Bayport residents (or if you know family and friends) regarding the basement/crawl space.

We are boaters so we will most likely buy a home that is close to the water (south of Middle Rd.) so most likely will end up with a crawl space.

What is your basement/crawl space situation (finished, dirt floor, concrete floor, water proof, mold, must, odor, warped floors). Have you experienced issues and how were they resolved? Chat Icon Thanks!

Lastchance1222 from Bayport. I also lived there for a while. Nice town and I was told Bayport has some of the best schools.

We have friends who grew up there and now live there (Bayport). They love it. They are right near the HS, nice area. Good schools to from what I hear.

I teach there and think that the schools are phenomenal. If I didn't work in the district, it would surely be a top choice to live. If you have any questions, FM me.

Re: Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

That's what I like, the tiny district idea. I grew up walking to school and I'd love that for our kids. If we buy where we live now, I'd have to drive my kids over a major highway to get to school. That just does not sit well with me.

Beyond the school system, I'd love to start our family in a friendly community with great neighborly programs like parades, tree lightings, egg hunts, free concerts, town square kind of stuff!

Re: Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

I spent a good part of my childhood in Bayport-Bluepoint schools and walked to school everyday with my friends. My DH also grew up there and we are currently looking to buy a house there as well b/c he loved it so much.

I grew up south of Middle and had an attic and full basement. The town is nice and quiet. Schools are great and it is your typical town.

There's a really nice looking house at the end of Bayport Ave just two house from Middle Rd that's brand new. I think they just finished a few months ago. One nice looking house...

We live in Blue Point.

We bought our house in 2005. We love the area. Schools are great. Nice location close to beach, shops, etc.

Thanks! I'll check it out! This house we like is actually down further closer to the bay. We like the bay view a lot! I'll have to see if I can find a listing for the one you'd mentioned. Since I've been the one looking, DH has little free time, I want to show him some comparibles so he has something to compare this house with.

Re: Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

I grew up there, right near the high school. I loved it. It was small but I didn't mind. I thought the schools were good. I also liked that there was not a lot of academic competition. I did well but didn't feel like I had to get into a better school than so-so or whatever. Also, I always walked to school until I got too cool for that and drove myself the 1 block. The community is great too.

Re: Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

There is a nice ranch down in South Bayport that could have water views. We checked it out at a recent open house. Not sure if you've seen it, but wanted to throw it out there if you are looking for south Bayport with water views.

Re: Anyone from Bayport or Blue Point?

Thanks! I know of a few like what you've mentioned and I've most likely been in them. One or two are considerations. I'm on top of every house for sale in our areas and price range. I'm a research junky! Chat Icon
