Anyone getting a regular rocking chair?
I see lots of ads for glider rockers, but I really like the traditional rocking chairs. Is anyone getting one of these? Pros or cons? Thanks.

That is what I have. My mother bought one for me years ago that has sat in storage and now I will bring it over.
The only cons I can think of is that a glider appears to be wider and has the ottoman.

I just inherited my great grandparents Lincoln Rocker. I LOVE IT!!!!!! I wish I had it when Andrew was a baby.

I have had a rocking chair for years that I love and will be putting in the nursery. I am going to get a big soft pillow to put on the bottom of it so it is more comfortable.

I may be getting one from my mom, the one she rocked me in when i was a baby. But it's not as comfortable as the gliders, so I'm not sure if I want it yet.

It's what I used with DD and what I'm using now for DS. The gliders make me feel nauseated. Weird, but they do.

I have my grandmother's rocking chair which will go in the nursery. I have to get new cushions for it though. I still have the originals on it and they're 32 years old!

My SIL gave me one for my livingroom (I'm getting the glider for the bedroom) and its cute, old but not as comfy as a glider.

same here! I'm just afraid it nights are rough, the rocker is going to get uncomfortable really fast!

If no one buys the glider I want from BRU, we are going to Lazy Boy and look at their rocking chairs. That way we can move it into the living room and keep using it.

exactly. Plus my moms has a low back (hits me around the shoulder blades maybe), so there is no head rest. So that could be tough on me.

For some reason I bought a rocking chair a week before I got pregnant...I found it at an antiques fair in MA and I fell in love with it.
It's a traditional rocker that goes well with our front room's other furniture....it's a little uncomfortable so I think we'll eventually be getting a glider for the baby's room.
