Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
I have never been one to be overly self-conscious or concerned about my weight. When I first got pregnant and throughout most of my pregnancy I thought it was cute but now I am just plain out HUGE. Not a day goes by that people (even complete strangers) dont make comments about my size. "Are you having twins?" "That's a big baby" "When are you due??? Really??? You look like your about to pop" "That baby is going to be huge." Even my family members make comments and I know they are not doing it to be mean, they are just trying to be funny, but when someone says "what do you have a horse in there?" I get a little insulted. This never bothered me before, but over the last few weeks with the increase in stretch marks on my stomach (which by the way the cocoa butter has not helped at all) I am becoming more and more sensitive to these comments. Even DH gets insulted now when he is with me and people make these comments. DH is great and tells me I am beautiful blah blah blah. But I sure as hell dont feel it. And I am starting to worry that I am not going to lose the weight after I have the baby and the fat is just going to redistribute to other places (like my a$$) and I am just going to feel and look as yucky and uncomfortable as I do now.
I hate venting about this stuff b/c I dont want to seem vain b/c I am not. I think I am just being more senstive now b/c my hormones are out of wack and I just want to have this baby already. I dont know how he could grow anymore, I have no more belly room left

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
Some people just say that as if it isn't rude or they just don't know how big you're supposed to get. I have a friend who had a baby a few months back. When she was still PG, I hadn't seen her for a while and a mutual friend told me that she was HUGE. I saw her 2 days later and she looked great. It was 2 weeks before her due date and I would have easily believed her if she said she had 2 months to go! I still do not know why the other friend said she was huge. Now I do not even want to see that other friend when I am late in pregnancy!!

Yes and I'm tiny. Mainly b/c of backhanded compliments and whatnot at work. Compound that with a husband who hasn't caught on that he should go around lying to me and showering me with "you're beautiful" "you look amazing today..." I feel absolutely terrible...especially after shoe shopping yesterday.

I am here to give hugs. I really do what to say. I have to say this time around I made it a effort not to listen to anyone. I can't breathe...but I didn't listen to the fat comments...I waited so long for this they can all bite me! I think u look beautiful! Your dh thinks u are hot and thats all that matters!

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
I see you in your avatar picture and you look wonderful!! Be proud that your baby is growing and healthy!!
I am only 9 weeks and am scared to death about this pregnancy and gaining weight! I never lost weight from two surgeries last year and it has haunted me ever since. When I got PG, I was overjoyed, but immediately scared to death at what I am going to look like in 7 more months! We can only do the best we can, get some exercise, eat right and worry about it after our babies are born!! Don't think for another second you are big!!! You're beautiful!!!

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
Oh no, I feel the same way, especially after this weekend. I wanted to slap this lady....I was shopping for a fridge (cuz it was a great time to have my fridge breakdown ) & she asked when I was due. I told her & she actually answered, "are you going to make it until June?" I got so mad that I answered, "no, I think I am going to squat right here on your floor." DH & I turned around & left & she couldn't figure out why

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
Let me just say that you look great in your picture! A cute little pregnant lady and you are by far no where near huge!! Yes, you are pregnant, and your belly is big like all pregnant women, but you look absolutely fantastic!
I am worried about having these feelings also, when I get further in my pregnancy. As much as I feel so blessed to be pregnant (because I thought it would never happen) I am afraid that I'm going to feel like I look like a house and not want to go out in public, etc etc. That totally scares me ... especially when that other side of me feels soooo thankful to be pg in the first place. Lately my belly has been so distended from bloat but I refuse to try to hide it, everyone knows I'm pregnant and I'm going to wear my normal shirts that hug my little pooch! Screw 'em all!
Just remember, not everyone thinks when they speak..people can be so rude and they may not even mean to be rude (of course sometimes they do!)...You have to filter out the good from the bad and although it may be hard at times, just remember that you have a beautiful thing coming and when that baby is born, you will probably look at your body and say it was all worth it.

I'm sorry you feel self conscious about your body. Myself personally, I have never felt more beautiful because I really am still amazing that the whole process is really a miracle.

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
Thank you everyone for your and kinds words! I feel a little better today. I think it is just the end of pregnancy hormones that are getting to me (plus the not sleeping). I guess at some point in our pregnancy we all deal with these feelings. Our bodies change dramatically and although we see it all the time and know it is supposed to happen, it has more of an impact when it is happening to you. DH loves me and tells me all the time I look great and I realize my belly may be a little big, but that is b/c I have my little in there!!

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
I got so mad that I answered, "no, I think I am going to squat right here on your floor."
I had to laugh at that....
I'm sorry - you look great - I can relate because I have a lot of body issues as well, and was very nervous when I found out I was PG - not so much because of what my body was going to go thru so much as how it was going to affect me mentally, if that makes sense....
I have not had the comments that you ladies have recieved, but have seen my body get way out of shape this pregnancy because I was so sick in the beginning and so tired for most of it. I am hoping I can get it back into the shape it was pre-preggo.... and hope I dont get too nuts about it....
Ladies - just think what we are going thru means we will have somebody precious at the end to love and cherish!!!

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
I already feel like the GOODYEAR BLIMP and Im only 14 weeks!
I gain about 10lbs the minute I find out Im pregnant..its actually one of my ways of "knowing".
I have since not really gained any weight but I still feel like Im falling apart at the seems...
At this point I would just like to "LOOK" pregnant instead of fat...right now you can tell that I have a belly but with the water weight and the boobs I look like Ive packed on more that 20lbs!

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
i think its safe to say we're all in the same boat. unfortunately society puts so much pressure on looks. i feel ugly and fat at 9 weeks and terrified at what i'll look like months from now and the comments I KNOW I'll get. You look great in your pic and your DH loves you and you're getting the best gift in the world so hang in there

Re: Anyone getting nervous/down about their body image since becoming pregnant?
Jellybean, you don't look huge at all. Everything went to your belly.
Even now at 14 weeks, I worry about getting bigger. I've only gained about 6 lbs but my face & arms feel huge. I can't wait for when my belly is more round because I really hate to think that people just think I'm getting fat. I'm also worried because I have tattoos on my lower stomach & I hope I don't have any stretch marks running through them at the end of this pg.
Try not to let the comments get to you. I don't think people are trying to be mean, thet just say things out of stupidity
