Anyone go to the Big Apple BBQ today?
DH have gone three times in the past few years. They have pit masters from all over the country in Madison Square Park. It is a nice afternoon.
Big Apple Barbecue
Today, we ate at the Salt Lick and at the 17th Street Bar and Grill. It is still going on tomorrow. I suggest getting there early.

My company produced the event two years ago. I can officially say, it was probably the worst way I have ever spent 72 hours. An all time professional low-- MAYHEM.
I will be scarred forever. AND, I am a vegertarian.
All of the guests always have a good time though!

It was a meat eater's paradise. We got there early enough to enjoy it wihout waiting on lines too long. I can see how putting it together could be horrible. But you are right, people did enjoy themselves. Families were just sitting in the park enjoying the music and eating good food.

Yeah-- the lines for the food were insane. Even if you had the Bubba Pass (Fast Pass) you still needed to wait forever.. But, I love Madison Sq Park-- it's such a pretty park. I lived on 26th Street for 6 years-- so I always considered it my park.
Glad you had fun though!

Yup. DH and I make it a point to go there first.
Actually, we played it smart this year. We got there around 10:30, walked around until 11 and then split up. I got on the line for the salt lick. (I was 4th). He was on line for the other place. By the time they rang the bell to start the day, the line was ENORMOUS. The people with the passes did not seem to fare much better than the people without.
It is open tomorrow. If anyone is inclined to go, I highly suggest to go early, divide and conquer. The food is about $8 per serving and drinks are $2. there is a designated area for drinking beer and even a place for dogs to play.

We went last year and honestly - it was SO crowded and hot that we couldn't even enjoy ourselves.

Us too! The lines were way too long, you waited forever to try one place, DH was so disappointed.
