I'm going, we actually got VIP tickets this year, so we are allowed to drink, etc. in a designated area I believe. We better for all the extra $$ we paid. We also went last year and they said no tailgating, but the cops were great and we had no problems as long as everyone was tame. My friends went to the 2 nd show however and the cops were total d!x about it, made them dump their beer!Chat Icon I guess it all depends on who is there. I so hear you though, that's the part we always look forward to! Have fun & good luck!

We tailgated last year too with no problems - we didnt play loud music and drank out of plastic cups. Hopefully it will be the same this year - I never read anything anywhere that said you cant.

Re: Anyone going to see DMB this weekend at Randells island???

I went to Randall's Island this Saturday for Ozzfest.

The venue was HORRIBLE. I hope they have your concert in a different area than where we were.

We had a 45 minute walk from our car to the admittance gate, then another 15 minute walk to one of the stages.

As for tailgating, there were undercover cops driving around checking what people were doing. I saw one BBQ, but nothing actively on fire. We just brought sandwiches. On the Randall's Island website it says that tailgaiting is prohibited. We were allowed to bring in one sealed bottle of water - too bad we didnt know that BEFORE we got to the gate - I wasnt about to walk back to the car. But I should have, considering....

Ozzfest is about 14 hours long. By hour 7, there was no more water. By hour 9, there was no more soda, lemonade, etc. All they had was beer. So you have all of these hot, pi$$ed off, dehydrated, tired people, and all they can drink is beer. And they wonder why these things sometimes get violent...

It might be very different - because you figure the Ozzfest crowd is just a little more rowdy then the Dave Matthews Band crowd. Chat Icon They may have enlisted extra security/cops for the Ozzfest event.

If it were me, I'd bring just sandwiches - I'd hate to get all that food and not be able to use it.
