Re: anyone going to the balloon fest today?
I'm pretty sure we are. I hope it's not super packed, but I have a feeling it will be! We probably aren't going until 1 or 2 though. Does anyone know if the Newsday for today has coupons?

Re: anyone going to the balloon fest today?
We were thinking about going tomorrow, but decided to skip it. I know it will be packed and I don't feel like negotiating the sit 'n stand stroller through the crowds. Not to mention, it ain't cheap!

Re: anyone going to the balloon fest today?
We went today and it's insanely expensive, but we had a good time. Bring cash since they don't take debit/credit cards and the ATM fee is $5.00! Also, take Sunrise instead of the LIE. Traffic was backed up to exit 65 on the expressay and there was no one on Sunrise so we got there quickly.
Admission $25 for adults, $15 for kids. Parking $10 Ride Bracelets are $25 or $1.00 per ride ticket and each ride takes 3-5 tickets. Food is OUTRAGEOUS. Drinks are $4 and $5. Ice cream was $14 for three cones. At night they have glow thingys that are $10 a pop. Of course there are carnival games that are a fortune.
The tethered balloon ride is $15 a person. Nicholas went on it and loved it! The highlight of the day and worth the long wait! Although Emma and I watched from the sideline.
The circus line was ridiculously long so we didn't bother. The bleachers were filled for the Monster truck show, so again we didn't bother. The skydivers were cool. It was so neat to look up and see them all coming down. We stayed late enough to see them blow up all the balloons. That's a must see so don't leave before 8 if you go! And make sure you don't have dead batteries for the digi cam at the end of the day like me
There's a lot of freebies. Newsday takes a free family pic and puts it in a magnet, Cablevision does the same and has a free raffle and other freebies. There were a lot of sponsors handing out their stuff. I bought Emma some really cute large fabric sewn books in the craft tent. She LOVES the Clifford one. Check those out!
I was a bit annoyed that the grounds were atrocious, trash was everywhere, there was no one emptying it. A lot of the vendors ran out of food, and there wasn't enough of them. Mister Softee lines were an hour + long. It was crazy!!
I'm exhausted but we all had fun
Oh, and you can bring in drinks as long as they are sealed. If they have been opened, they will make you throw them out at the gate.

Re: anyone going to the balloon fest today?
We went also! I have the same review as Summer. Also, if you are going, bring chairs! You don't need to carry them around (leave them in the car until you need them), just have them for the balloons. It is really cool how they do it! I am uploading my pictures now and I will try to post come later.
