anyone good with computers and music- I need you to talk me through something
My friend owns a music studio and helped me make all of my edits for work (I'm a dance teacher) and he gave me everything on CD. He accidently didn't put it in an audio file, so it doesn't play music. He said I need to put it on my computer, put the music in a file, and burn a new CD. I'm not very good at this kind of stuff, it's DH's department. He can do it for me tonight, but I would love to do it before I have to go to work. So here's the situation. I put it in my E Drive and I can't open it becaus it gives me the message "Windows can not open this disc." And something about it not being readable and if it's unformatted it may need to be. So now what do I do?

did you try opening it by putting the disk in, closing the try, going to Start/Run and then typing E: ? Or opening my computer and clicking on the E: drive when the disk is in the tray? Sometimes the files won't run automatically but if you try to see the contents through one of those two options it will work (it still may not run, but at least you can then save a copy into another place and burn a new CD from it).

That's exactly what I tried to do and it says the disk may be corrupt or uses a format that Windows doesn't recognize. If the disk is unformatted you may need to format it. Am I supposed to compress it or something? I know DH will be able to figure this out, but I was really hoping to have it for class today.

If Windows can't open the disk, there's probably nothing you can do about it. It sounds like he didn't "close" the CD when he was done. Do you have CD burning software? You may be able to look at the CD from inside the CD burning software, and hopefully be able to close it.
