Anyone had to have a CT scan for their child?
Ryan had his 1 year appointment yesterday and the Dr. says his head is measuring big. She wants to send him for a CT scan just to be on the safe side, even though she is sure nothing is wrong.
Where did you go for this and what was your experience? She recommended StonyBrook because they specialize with children and he will have to be sedated for it.

My son went to Good Sam for his CT Scan. He wasn't sedated, but he was six when he had it done.

Kevin had a CT Scan for the same reason when he was around 10 months. We went to Good Sam and he was sedated.
It was fine and the docs there were great. If you have any questions, FM me!

Re: Anyone had to have a CT scan for their child?
My four year old recently had a CT scan at Good Sam. My pediatrician specifically recommended them over Stony Brook even though I am closer to Stony Brook and the group's affiliation is North Shore/LIJ. I have to say that I was very happy with the way they handled my daughter and although she did not have to be sedated, largely due to the skill and patience of their staff, I would definitely recommend them.

Re: Anyone had to have a CT scan for their child?
Thank you everyone for your responses! I think that I will be going to Good Sam instead of Stonybrook based on the recommendations.
Ryan's head has been measuring big since he was born so I knew it was a matter of time before my Dr wanted to get a test done.
Thanks again!

Re: Anyone had to have a CT scan for their child?
My DS had to have one, and we had it at Stony Brook. They were great, the tech. let my husband stay with my DS and hold the bottle in his mouth, so he would be still for the scan (my son was approx. 10 - 12 weeks I think).
It was very fast, and my DS didn't mind at all.
Please keep up posted...I hope everything goes well with your DS
