Anyone have a biophysical and non stress test done?
I went to my doctors appt today and based on my growth sono from Saturday, the umbilical cord is down first - not the head. Now I have to have a biophysical and non stress test done every week as a precaution. Anyone get this done? TIA!

i am 39 weeks and have been going for both of those tests every week since wk 36, due to my dr thinking the baby was measuring small and since i am over 35. the non stress tests are done at his office, they put a belt on the belly to measure your contractions and heart rate and movement of the baby. at my drs office they give u a lil button to push when u feel the baby move and when or if u feel a cramp or contraction. the biophysical tests fro me are done at the hospital, and the do a sono checking the baby's practice breathing, muscle tone, and check to make sure there is enough amnio fluid. hope this helps!

With my ds, I had them weekly for almost 2 months. they are nothing one is a sonogram and the other is a belt like thing they put around your belly and you hear the baby's heartbeat and they record any contractions or anything. nothing to be alarmed by at all

I had them done twice a week from 33 weeks until day of delivery at 38 weeks 6 days.
It isn't really a big deal. The biophysical is a sono to count movement and check for signs of what they call "breathing" its the baby's belly going in and out. Looks like the baby is breathing.
The NST (non stress test) monitors fetal heart rate in comparison to the activity of your uterus (contractions).

i had gestational diabetes and low amniotic fluid.

When I was pregnant with my DS I had a non stress test starting at week 39. My test was done the same way as you explained. I had it each week until I finally gave birth to my DS at week 42.

I had the non stress test with both DS and DD. My DH went with me and had a ball it measures your contractions and heart rate. so he would tap on my tummy and yell at the belly and make the babies heart rate go up..My DH is such a little kid..Thats why I didnt let him go for the one with DD..
I would say take a book or a magazine with you to the test though its long.

I had two non stress tests and a biophysical profile because I was past my due date and they wanted to make sure the baby was doing ok and the fluid wasn't low. The 2nd non stress test was to see if I was having contractions and how the baby was responding to those contractions. Turns out I was having contractions and not feeling them but not progessing.

I will have a nonstress test every week and a biophysical every 2 weeks. I will be 32 weeks on Monday and I have to have this done because of my gestational diabetes
