Re: Anyone have a cabana at a beach club?

I'm a Jersey girl so we never did this, but DH had a cabana for many years growing up and he had the best summers.

Not sure if it's still the same, but I'm sure it is. My MIL said they had like a day camp during the week so DH and my SIL would play there and weekends they had it with another couple and their kids. Plus, they became friends with the families around them that the kids would play together all day and night and the parents hung out. They had a fridge and cabinets so kept all the food in there along with the chairs and all.
THere were fireworks and other activities. At night they used to have food delivered. All I heard was positive things.

We're on the waiting list for one in AB after going to visit our friends last year. We thought it was awesome. You keep all of your stuff at the beach and a cabana boy sets it all up for you before you get there (that sold me Chat Icon ). There are lots of fun things to do with the kids!

A few of Jeff's clients had them in the Hamptons and they were great because you can leave stuff there-tell Steve to take Loey to the beach once with everything he needs-that should help!

We're going in with my SIL (who already has the cabana at Silverpoint) this summer. While it's a drive for us...I am excited! It's always been fun - the beach is gorgeous, the pools (while always cold! LOL) are nice, and the convenience of the cabana (with the sink/fridge/shower) is priceless!

Re: Anyone have a cabana at a beach club?

My parents have had a cabana at Silverpoint since I was 2. They've made a lot of lifelong friends there. I loved going there as a kid. The only real negative is it can get really crowded by the cabanas at times. Some cabanas have several families sharing it. When they all come, it can get a little nuts. The good thing though is you can always get away from it and hang out by the ocean.

I really enjoyed taking DS there last summer (he was 7-8 months old). My parents had a kiddie pool for him. We spent a lot of time at the ocean too. They have a little playground and DS enjoyed the swings. We usually stay and bbq at night. Everyone is very friendly on my parents' court so they tend to have either a large spread of appetizers or dessert spread out over a few cabanas. Birthdays and anniversaries are usually celebrated with cakes.

ETA: My parents' cabana has a good amount of storage space, a sink, microwave, tv and a shower (I think). One of the nice parts is there's a cabana boy who sets everything up before we get there, packs things away, carries bags from the car, takes out the garbage, etc. It's definitely a different experience than going to a public beach.

I was just looking at the membership prices. I thought it would be a lot more $$, unless I am reading it incorrectly.

Cabana for the season at Silver Point is 1,005.00 for a family?

That's just for a membership pass. You also have to pay for the cabana or locker.

A bath cabin is a small locker. It has much less storage space than a cabana and usually faces the parking lot. The cabin is basically a place to store your stuff and that's it. A lot of the cabanas have benches to sit, sinks, counter space, refrigerators, changing areas, showers, etc. Many of the cabanas also have decks to put tables and chairs and space in the sand to put beach chairs, pools, etc.

We do. We had it last summer also and it was amazing!!! We were able to leave all of our stuff in the cabana---diapers, wipes, toys, chairs, fan, umbrella, tent etc and not have to worry about anything. It was great because the cabana boy would set us up and we didn't have to stress. Are you guys going to be in AB for the whole summer? We have to play!!!

Re: Anyone have a cabana at a beach club?

We had one the last 2 yrs in point look out. The convenience of not having to lug your crap back and forth was well worth it on its own. Add in the pool, playground and place to eat/drink/get out of the sun/shower off I'd do it again in a heart beat.

Re: Anyone have a cabana at a beach club?

We went to a friend's down toward Lido and loved it, but they do a lottery for them.
We honestly can't justify the cost right now, we hardly ever get to the beach as it is!

I would love to get a cabana but I feel like Atlantic Beach is just too far for us. Door to door it's about 40 minutes (one way)

I think it's totally worth it!

With a cabana, you can spend the whole day there... KWIM?

My parents have lived in AB since I was in 2nd grade and we have always spent lots of time at the beach. We'd go after breakfast and play in the pool and the ocean... get/bring lunch there... and sometimes even stay until dinner time!

ITA...totally worth the 40 minute drive...gives you something to do all day with the kids.
My sister drives about 30 minutes to hers in AB with her FOUR kids...she always says she'd rather hang there than at home in the summer. Sometimes it's an even longer drive with traffic but she feels it's worth it.
I've already bought my guestbook of passes for this summer to crash at my sister's...and it's an even longer drive for me!
