Anyone have a family membership (or any membership) to the YMCA?
I have a 2.5 year old and a soon to be infant ( coming in March). Would a family YMCA membership be good for us? I'd like to have access to the pool, maybe lessons for the 2.5 year old, mommy and me type stuff for the infant. And possibly gym use for me. Does a membership include any of this?
Specifically the Patchogue YMCA, but would like to hear opinions on any YMCAs and their programs. TIA.
(DH is anti YMCA bc he thinks they are all skeevy... I've heard good things about the one in Patchogue, but definitely don't want to go anywhere skeevy.)

That YMCA looks amazing! I wish they had more of them on the North Shore. My kids really want a place to swim whenever they wish. Their fees only include use of the pool, rock wall, workout room and track I believe. No lessons, mommy and me, etc.

Re: Anyone have a family membership (or any membership) to the YMCA?
I signed DD up for swimming at the Y in Patchogue (it was a mommy & me class). She needed a program membership, which was $75 (I think) and then paid for the swimming classes separate (and I can't remember how long the membership is good for.) I found that the facility was very clean and the locker room and pool were not skeevy at all.

My Dd is too old for the mommy and me type of classes (in thinking ahead for summer and she'll be 3). Do you know if they have a viewing area for parents to watch while the older kids are with the instructor? I know Safety Swim does, but I've heard mixed reviews about Safety Swim.

Our son went to a few Mommy & Me classes at the Bay Shore YMCA. Not skeevy at all.
As parents, we didn't need the membership, but my son did because the classes were for him. We attended with him. If you aren't doing the gym for yourself, you can attend the classes with your kids and only pay for their memberships.

I do like the Y but hate the fees on top of fees.

Yes, there is a viewing area for the parents.
