Re: Anyone have a good way to make a brisket?

4-5 lb beef brisket
1 package Lipton onion soup mix
1 can (non-diet) ginger ale
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon fresh garlic, minced or 1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
baby carrots (optional)
potatoes (optional)
boiling onions (optional)
Combine onion soup mix with ginger ale and ketchup. Place brisket in a heavy roasting pan which has been lined with aluminum foil. Pour soup mixture over the brisket. Sprinkle top of roast with minced garlic or a light dusting of garlic powder.
Cover roast tightly with foil.

Bake at 375°F for 2 hours. Remove foil cover and continue to cook for another hour. Add white boiling onions, baby carrots and/or quartered potatoes around bottom of pan during the last 1 1/2 hours of cooking, if desired. Stir vegetables occasionally to cover with gravy. If gravy boils away, add a small amount of water or beef broth.

This can be made on the Crock Pot but the sauce will not thicken. I make it in the crock pot & then thicken the sauce on the stove before we eat.

Re: Anyone have a good way to make a brisket?

4lb brisket
2 packets lipton onion soup mix
enough water to cover the meat in the pot
2 tblsps tomato paste

first put the meat in the pot and sear each side. Then add the lipton soup packets and water. Cook for about 30 mins. Add the tomato paste.

Cook until the meat is tender. Could be about 3 hours..keep adding water to the pot to keep the meat most submerged.

I drop in some carrots or mushrooms sometimes about 20 mins before it's done.

Re: Anyone have a good way to make a brisket?

This was my first try at the crockpot and it came out amazing. I made it about 2 weeks ago....

Onions and Carrots on the bottom of the crockpot.

Place brisket in crockpot and add....
-BBQ Sauce
-Sprinkle in some garlic
-A squirt of mustard

Mix it around. Cook. SO EASY and delicious!

I did a search on google and found MANY crockpot brisket recipes. Many called for cooking wine which I didn't have so I just put everything else in.

Have fun! Enjoy!
