Anyone have a lot of trouble walking in wedges?
I swear by wedges-- I love them... always have... I love the fact that it's like wearing a heel, yet so much more comfy because your feet are not contorted into strange positions...
Now, every NEW pair of wedges-- purchased over the last year.. I CANNOT walk in.
I am wearing a new pair from 9 West today-- and I thought they were "sensible". In fact when I got them (I ordered online) I thought that they looked like something my mother would wear... SO, as I am walking to the train-- I took a full on digger on the sidewalk... scraping the knee of a very expensive pair of jeans and scraping the side of my relatively new Kooba.
I am so upset that these pieces of clothing are now "ruined" in my mind... and am so ****** I have yet another pair of shoes that I am going to be afraid to wear.
I live and work in an urban area-- so I do a lot more walking than other people-- and I also have to walk on a lot of uneven sidewalks etc. Perhaps this is the problem--
I am not even a total klutz-- so I have no clue what the deal is!

Re: Anyone have a lot of trouble walking in wedges?
how high are they? I have seen wedges that are 4"+
I agree that it's easier to walk in wedges (for me at least) than heels, but I still can't wear anything too high. the ones I bought are 2.5"-3" TOPS!

Re: Anyone have a lot of trouble walking in wedges?
On city sidewalks, I have a problem walking in wedges. At least once a day, when I do more than 10 minutes of walking in NYC, I trip a little because of uneven sidewalks, cracks in the street and a slew of other reasons.
Sorry that you fell!

Re: Anyone have a lot of trouble walking in wedges?
these are SOOO not high. 2 inches-- maybe 2.5.
I think the problem is that they make the sole of them narrow, which they did not do in seasons past-- I have another pair that is much more narrow and I occassionally lose my balance, but don't eat concrete regularly... these 9 West ones-- are narrower than the part where my foot goes, but not like suicidal narrow!

Re: Anyone have a lot of trouble walking in wedges?
Wedges are a definate try before you buy shoe in my book. I have a few pairs I love, they are very comfortable and pretty easy to walk in. I would say I could sprint in them, but they are sturdy. I tried on a pair this weekend, the arch support was so off, they were awful.
I'm sorry you fell!!! Glad you didn't twist an ankle or anything really bad like that.

I actually have a harder time walking in wedges than I do in heels.
