Anyone have a lumpectomy?

Can you tell me about the recovery? I have a 2 and 4 year old at home. Will I be really uncomfortable for a few days? I'm supposed to take my DD to disney on ice for a mommy daughter day 3 days after I have it done. The only restriction I was told would be no lifting on that side for a short time.

I had one last year. I was really sore for a few days, but after that I was ok.

I had one when my DD was 3. It probably depends on where your incision is. I think I had more of a recovery from the anthestic then the incision. Sore, arm pain for a few days . If I remember right I couldn't drive for a couple days either...

Good luck to you, I know how difficult and scary it is.

Thank you! It is mid to lower right on the left side. He said he can hide the incision.

Luckily it is not cancerous. But it is something that they are concerned about changing. It is the second time that it has been biopsied and with some bad calcifications around it they worry it could be a problem down the road so I would rather get rid of it now than worry later.

I hope I can drive - he didn't mention that I couldn't. I got DD those princess on ice tickets a few months ago and she is SO excited about a mommy daughter day. I don't want to disappoint her.

i had one about a year & a half ago (also benign). i had surgery on thursday & was driving again on sunday. i could have gone back to work on monday but took the extra day just to relax at home.

I went back to work in two days.

My mom had one and was back to work with a day. The recovery time was short and easy.
