Re: Anyone have a professional digital camera?
i have the canon rebel... LOVE it! But what do you mean by professional? Do you mean a SLR? when buying a camera, i was always told to purchase the most affordable body you can find and put all of your money into the lens... the lens makes a huge difference in photos!

Re: Anyone have a professional digital camera?
We do. We have the Canon XTI. Just a word of warning though. It is a lot more work and takes a lot more skill to take GREAT pictures. This is not point and click photography.

Oh really! Thanks...I know nothing about this. I just know I want better quality than what I have been getting with my cameras

I have a Nikon D70 but it's not defined as a professional digital camera.
Anything above a D100 would be.

I have a Canon Rebel DSLR. It's not a "professional" camera, but it takes amazing photos! If you are looking for better quality, look into DSLR cameras.

No problem. The SLRs are good quality, but they still allow you to use point and click mode, so you don't have to be an photography expert to take great pictures.

But they are better than the regular point and shoot digital. I love taking pictures but I am disappointed at the quality that I get from my camera now...and my B-day is coming up so this is what I am asking for.
Any recommendations???
THANKS

Re: Anyone have a professional digital camera?
To be honest, and this is from DH who went to photography school and I've come to see his point...SLR's are amazing but for the everyday photographer, they are too much. I would LOOOOVE one so badly, but I think it's more important to understand my camera first and understand lighting and composition before I have to think about exposure value, aperature and shutter speed.
I think if you stick with Nikon, Canon or Olympus, you're good to go.

This is what my DH said before I convinced him to get the Rebel DSLR. He said what do we need the features for. Now that we have it, he is in LOVE with the camera. It was an investment, but it was worth every penny and it's the kind of camera we will have for years.

ITA. I've had my regular Canon Rebel 35 mm for 7 years and just got the SLR. It is money well spent because a reputable camera will last a long time.

Re: Anyone have a professional digital camera?
I just bought this for my yearbook kids... http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/371189-REG/Canon_0209B001_EOS_Digital_Rebel_XT.html we already have one, now we have two... the kids get great shots with it... I think it is great for a beginner or someone who really knows a lot about cameras... there is still a point and shoot mode, but you can go more in depth if you want... DH even started using it when we went to Alaska... It is big and I dont always bring it everywhere with me because it can be kind of a pain sometimes, but in those cases I have a little point & shoot Olympus stylus which takes good pictures as well...
The above link is just for the body... I just bought this lens to go with it: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/423714-REG/Tamron_AF016C700_17_50mm_f_2_8_XR_Di.html
If you need help picking stuff out let me know!!
