anyone have a really close friend go "mia" once a boy comes along...
without getting into details - my best best best friend has been totally MIA since about March because of a boy she is with.
It's been upsetting me - but I guess in a way I have understood since she is into this guy (who is horrid but thats beside the point).
Well now she basically just told me she can't celebrate my bday with me because shes going away with him. When I switched the day we were going to celebrate - she told me she has one of his friends bday parties.
So I guess thats that. We have been celebrating our birthdays together forever but now his friends are more important...I guess it drives the point home that if they get married - our 13 year friendship is history!

My friends & I have all gone MIA for a guy but not to that extent.
Getting along with the friends of both parties is part of the package in my book.

It happens when you meet someone you're really into - I know it happened with me for a while - but, the key to any healthy relationship is to bounce back after the "honeymoon" phase, and reconnect with your friends.
That's exactly why I always give my friends a 3-4 month grace period for every new relationship. After the 4 months are up, I start getting on their case.

yeah - well her 4 months is way up. They have been together on and off for about a year!!!!
they broke up in Feb (Cause he is horrendous - have I said that yet?) and in March she got back together with him. She told me she wasnt sure it was what she wanted blah blah - then oneday she decided to invest in the relationship (her words not mine) and since then she has been gone.
The weirdest thing is that I get the impression he doesnt like us (her friends) and either she is keeping him away from us - or he is avoiding us. I dont know - the whole thing is just a bummer...what else can I say?

Sounds like he's bad news. I was in a relationship like that - I was a horrible, horrible friend, but a big part of that was because I was in an even more horrible relationship that was taking a serious toll on my self-confidence. It wasn't so much that he didn't like my friends, it was more so that he was so insanely jealous and possessive that he slowly tried to cut them out of my life. Unfortunately, with these things, nagging or harassing won't do much good - she'll have to come out of this one on her own...

People SUCK!!!
I HAD a really good friend (over 8 years) , was in my BP & everything. Last time I saw her was HER birthday in November
She didn't even call me on mine!
She's back w/ her X & is probably to embarrassed to admit it to me. (I would be too  )
She doesn't even know I'm pregnant!
Well she might, but not from me!
F her!! I wrote her off.

Yes I had that happen to me in college and then after college, I sat down w/ her and told her that I was upset/angry
well needless to say it never changes and we are not friends anymore and to BOOT shes not with the guy!!

That kind of happened to me...she met a guy and started to drift off...right before my wedding when she was my MOH...then she sort of came around but I was kind of resentful towards her for not being fully "there for me" during my planning process, and I started to drift away from her...so now we both dirfted away from each other...but we each have our own lives now...she's getting married, I'm having a baby...I think this is just a part of the "necessary losses" that we need to go through in life...she's still sort of there but its not the same and it never will be. I have other friends now that I can turn to and count on...I'm sure she does as well.

On the flip side, I had a very good friend disappear as soon as I got engaged. She wouldn't attend my shower or my wedding, then apologized and said she would come see my wedding pics and never did. Now I'm pregnant and she stopped calling. I'm heartbroken.
