I am probably NO help because I doubt my way is the 'official' way.

I sautee some thinly sliced onions in olive oil and a little butter. Then I toss in the kraut and another bit of white sugar. Add caraway, salt and pepper and done.

My mom used to sautee the kraut in butter and add the seeds and molasses. I just use brown sugar.

It tastes good to me! Make sure you drain off and rinse the sour kraut, this will prevent it from being too sour. When you add the sweetness, it is kind of a sweet and sour taste. YUMMM
