Anyone have a shady backyard?
Wondering pros and cons to a shady yard. A property we are looking at has a pool but it's south facing and mostly shading (lots of trees so just what peeks through them). I prefer the sun but can see that in the dead heat of summer a shady yard could be nice. Thoughts?

Just FYI, the trees might get annoying with the pool...leaves, twigs, and not to be vile, but any deceased creatures that are in the trees could land in the pool...
(I'm unsure if you meant the trees are right over the pool.)

Anyone have a shady backyard?
We have a shady backyard and while I like that it doesnt get that hot sitting back there it is VERY annoying that it is so hard to grow anything. Grass, plants, flowers... I also wouldnt want to many tres covering the pool bc its the sun that heats the pool. But can you trim them or cut some trees down?

Anyone have a shady backyard?
our pool gets sun from barely 10am to 3pm, and really only good in july/aug due to the direction our house faces and trees (town owned)
sooo annoying- the pool is always cold!

I definitely think you want sun on the pool. I know that when the pool is in the shade, even on a hot day it gets cold.

Anyone have a shady backyard?
Our backyard had a ton of trees when we bought our house. We knew we wanted to put a pool in, so we took down 95% of the trees so the pool gets full sun all day and keeps the pool warm all summer - which I love. But, we also have a large covered patio in the back of the house, so we can use that for shade.

This, we actually took down the one tree that was right by our pool.
I grew up with a completely shaded property, no pool, it was wonderful. Kept the house cool in the summer, never had air conditioning growing up.

The one tree that is covering the pool sits on the property line. I wonder whose tree it is. What's the law with removing trees? Do you know? I guess I would also have to consider a heater for the pool. I'm sure that is really expensive every month.

Have you looked into a heater? Curious what that costs. That totally stinks that the trees are town owned!
