Re: anyone have a small master bedroom
We have a very small bedroom ( in an apartment) Its about 7.5 x 7.5 It fits a queen size bed (it nearly touches 3 walls) and one end table. It does have a closet but no door (can't open with bed), so we hung a curtain, and we have a door that slides into the wall instead of opening in or out which saves room. Its hard to make the bed but overall I love how simple and to the point it is. I don't think I'll ever want a big bedroom, although a little bit bigger just to make the bed would be great.
My advice is keep decorating simple. Maximize storage under bed and make everything have a purpose like the end tables should have drawers. Not too many pillows. Not too many things on wall (Although I probably have more than I should) We have one light purple wall behind bed and the rest of the walls is cream. Oh and we mounted to the wall a small flat screen tv with dvd player made within the tv itsself. No cable box or anything, basic channels, although we could probably add a small shelf if we wanted a cable box.

Re: anyone have a small master bedroom
We have a small master bedroom as well. We would have liked to have a king sized bed, but it would never have fit. So we have a queen bed, and had to turn the two end tables on either side of the bed sideways to get them to fit. We can't even use the drawers for one of the tables since it's turned sideways between the wall and the bed, but at least we got them to fit and can use the surface for a lamp, clock, etc. We also took the sliding door off of the closet and put the dresser with mirror in that space. I hung short decorative curtains at the top of the closet opening to make it blend in more and look less like it used to be a closet. There's no room for any other furniture in the room. But for now it's fine for us. I like how it feels cozy. Although I'm sure I won't think that when we have a baby and there's no room for the crib in our room!

You could still fit a Queen with one end table or buy two end tables that are not part of a set and just buy really small end tables. Is there a good size closet in the room or is it really small?
How many bedrooms does your home have? You dont really want to make your home into a 2 bedroom house, they are a lot harder to sell. Just what I have heard. GL and if you have another questions, just ask.

ita with making it harder to sell but we have a high ranch and are going to be redoing the botom half and making a bedroom down there along with a tv/hangout room. So do you think 2 bedrooms up and 1 down would make ppl shy away from buying if we were to sell in the future?
I was thinking of just doing our queen beed one nightstand and a long dresser & mirror. Hopefully theres enough room for that n walking space.. lol guess we will see//

I also have a high ranch. They seem to be notorious for small bedrooms.
I don't really have anything to add to the pp's very good advice. I kept it simple with a pale sea green paint and floor length white curtains. Two prints flank my dresser mirror. Don't have anything over the bed at the moment - I grew to dislike what I had there and took it down. Don't crowd the room with either decor or furniture. You'll be fine - bedrooms should really just be for sleeping, sex, and storing clothes and jewelry anyway. You don't live in it.
I agree about not losing a room. The thing is, most families with young children like all bedrooms on one floor and therefore might have a concern about one down two up. That either could be a resale issue, or maybe even your opinion one day (not sure if you have children now.)
Since you're not renting downstairs you can store out of season clothes down there if you needed to.

For me, if I was looking for a 3 bedroom, I think I would still buy it. We have a Hi-Ranch as well. Our master is 13x11, 2nd & 3rd bedroom are about 9x9. But we have an apartment downstairs and also a Family Room down there. So we really have 4 bedrooms in the whole house. Some Hi-Ranches have bigger rooms, because they are just built wider, but not ours either. I'm sure you will make the right decision for your home. You could always ask a Real Estate Agent what their thoughts are about taking it from a 4 to a 3 bedroom. I know I would appreciate a bigger master bedroom. I would say go for it.
