Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

I can't believe you posted this! I took mine out yesterday for the first time since I got it and could not figure out how the thing works. If you go on to their website, there are some tips- I don't remember what it was (Wilton.com?) I just googled wilton cookie press. I still can't figure it out!
If I figure it out I'll let you know Good Luck!

Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

I have a Pampered Chef one and I had trouble today too. Half of the cookies came out fine, I couldn't get the second half of the dough to cooperate. I think if the dough gets too warm, it won't seperate from the press.

Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

when I use mine...I watch the dough as it comes out and it looks like it almost going to squeeze out if the sides. that helps "press" it into the cookie sheet and stay put.

does that make sense??

not wilton...i think its 'bon jour' or something like that... but i'm having the same issue today. eventually, i just said screw it, put the dough in the fridge, then rolled it out and used cookie cutters on it.

it was Beyond frustrating! Chat Icon

I got one that had a squeeze handle that is awful! My mom has an old one that has a handle you have to screw to push the cookies out, so much better.

Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

try putting the dough and the press in the frig for a little while. if the dough is too warm, the press won't work.

Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

I got the wilton one back when I was getting married. I opened it one day, it looked way too complicated and I returned it. I have a hamilton Beach elecrtic one for years and it is awesome. Makes perfect Christmas tree, snowmen, flowers. I love it!!!

I have the pampered chef one too. I love it but you have to make a thinner dough. I made 144 cookies with no problems.

Re: Anyone have a Wilton Cookie Press?

I have this one (Wilton Ultra I think) and it works pretty well. I got it a couple of years ago and use it with great success. I made over 300 sugar cookies the other day!

I've tried an electric press in the past, and it was horrible.

The trick to this one is to make sure the top wand-like thing is parellel to the handle. That way, when you push the silver lever down, it's able to "click" down to the next cookie.

Make sure the dough is only room temerature. If it's too cold, it will be too hard to press. If it's too warm, it gets too mushy. Just keep the bowl away from the stove, and you should be ok!

Good Luck!

That's so funny, I had the exact opposite experience. I may have been too agressive with the screw one though -- I broke it the first time I used it. Chat Icon
