Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
I'm debating what to do for DDs 2nd birthday party. She had a huge 1st birthday party at our house. We rented a tent, catered, etc. Im thinking of just doing our immediate family and close friends (STILL around 40 ppl) for her 2nd party but then she would be the only child there. None of my close friends or immediate family have little kids. Will she even care? I can't remember my 2nd birthday or who I played with when I was two. If I extend the guest list to invite my cousins with little kids, we are looking about around 60 people. And DD is not in daycare, so there are really no other little kids I could invite.
Torn on what to do!

Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
I had two small gatherings with family (one with each side) for DS' 2nd b-day. There was 1 kid at each party I believe (maybe a baby as well).

Re: Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
My DD is only 7 months but this is my plan. To throw a big 1st party and have it be an open house basically to anyone and everyone... and then do immediate family for #2, which is also no other children, but she will be the only one. Maybe 1 other. I don't think your LO will care or remember and they have plenty of other birthdays down the road to have friends only. So it is okay I feel like. plus 40 is still a lot.

Thank you. I just feel guilty for not inviting other children for her, but I feel she's still a little too young to care, and she has plenty of Aunts and Uncles who will be giving her plenty of special attention that day. 40 people is a lot, but DH and I both have big immediate families. I just wish some of them would start having kids!

Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
My DS will probably only ever have immediate family parties. I do not feel guilty about it one bit. It is 3 days after christmas. Also I never had a party for anything in my life until I graduated law school and my wedding. I turned out perfectly fine and so will my DS.
I do not see the need for these crazy parties.

Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
I am not planning on doing anything for DD's second birthday. I feel a little guilty, but at this age she has no idea about parties - she probably wouldn't even understand that it was for her! We will do something fun with her on her birthday and buy her a few presents. I will also have a one month old, so that is a big deterrent to committing to throwing a party!

Re: Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
We did less than immediate family. Had both grandparents, my sister and hubby, DH brother and family and that was It. We went to a restaurant and a place (white post) for my kid. It was great!

Yes, DS will be 3 this summer and it will be our 3rd small bday party (mostly family). When he starts asking for a bday party with friends we will consider throwing him one.

Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
We had a bigger party for DD's 1st birthday, but now that she's turning 2, we're gonna do a smaller party with just immediate family and close friends.

Re: Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
YEP...thats what we did for 1st and 2nd. We dont have family out here, nor did I know a lot of moms / kids by then either (and now I only know a small handful);
this past birthday was # 3 and thats when DS really started understanding the concept of birthdays and presents and we had a big party for him in brooklyn with our family & friends at Two Boots Pizza.
at 2, I dont think they'd remember or even know the difference.

Anyone have an immediate family only 2nd BDay party
We just had cake at my mom's with my MIL and my immediate family. Our friends and their kids happen to be up the block having Sunday dinner at the grandparents, so they came by for dessert.
We spent money on his first birthday and truthfully didn't think it was worth it to spend that money for a 2nd.
He had fun opening his gifts, playing with our friends kids and eating cake. We'll do the same until he asks for a party.
