Anyone have any info re layoffs
while pregnant?
We just found out that there will be layoffs at my job, specifically my department being re-orgnanized. It does not look good for me or my co workers
I am due beginning of Feb and we anticipate changes going into effect the end of the year possibly.
My question is do they have a right to deny me maternity pay ( my maternity is done through the job)? What rights do I have?
I will definitely be looking into this once more information is given, but thought some of you might have some info in the meantime.
Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but I would think if you are layed off before you go out on maternity leave, then you are not entitled to maternity leave pay from them.

You will however get a severance package (hopefully)-- it could be just 2 weeks, it could be 6 months-- depends on your company.
You will also be eligible for unemployment-- which, if your maternity pay was just going to be disability, may turn out to be more $$$, depending on how much money you make. You can get unemployment for 26 weeks.

Thanks for the insight. My maternity though my company would have been like 2 months full pay though
This whole thing sucks and could not have come at the worse time.
