Anyone have experience with ovarian cysts and ruptures? A little TMI
I've been having some issues lately with ovarian cysts. Last month I had a 5.5 cm one and a few smaller ones. I went back last week for a water sono to check for polyps and that came out fine and appeared that the larger cyst was just under 5cm so it was shrinking which was good.
Problem is that I've been bleeding on and off for the last 3 weeks or so. On Thanksgiving night i had these very strange pains in my abdomen. Not constant. They would come and go. Followed by heavy back and thigh pain. And bleeding. I contemplated calling my doc but figured since the pain wasn't excrutiating I would just ride it out.
The pain is just getting worse. My back and thigh pain was horrible when I woke up this morning. The abdomen paidn is still not excrutiating but for the last hour I have had one constant period cramp. And this morning I had (TMI ALERT!!!) a lot of brown stringy discharge. When I google it is says it may have ruptured and that you need antibiotics and stuff to prevent infection.
Do I need to call my doctor now on the emergency line of wait until tomorrow? i certainly can deal with the pain until tomorrow but not sure if a potential infection is ok? WWYD? Call doc now or wait until tomorrow?

Call. Now.
It could be nothing, but why risk it? The call won't cost you.

yeah, she wants me to call in the morning. I have another thread x-posted to parenting so I have been updating that one (it's confusing). The pain just came back again worse now but still bearable. Hopefully it won't get much worse from here.

Honestly don't hesitate to call your doctor.
Not to scare you, but my niece lost an ovary from a cyst that went untreated. To make a long story short, she went to Stony Brook hospital with pain. Without ever doing a sonogram they told her she had a cyst that burst and sent her home. Within a couple of days she was back having surgery to have her ovary removed. The cyst weighed down the ovary and it got all strangulated around her fallopian tube.
Had they done a sonogram and seen exactly what was going on, her ovary may have been saved.
I'm just saying don't wait -- you never know what could be going on in there.
Good luck!!
