Anyone have groceries delivered?
I was looking at Fresh Direct , they deliver groceries which would be sooo nice seeing as how it's not so fun to go grocery shopping with 2 kids and with all the Hamptons tourists around. The prices seem to be about the same as the grocery stores here in Southampton... Has anyone used them?

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
I know my neighbor across the street has Pea Pod (Stop & Shop) deliver her groceries. I see the truck out there pretty often. I guess it is easier than shopping with 5 kids and 1 on the way !!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
My friend who lives in Hampton Bays just did this last week. Her parents do this is the city except the fee is $3.95 in the city and $9.95 in the Hamptons.
She didn't seem to think it was worth the 9.95 fee.

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
I used them a couple of times - not to my house though. I used to work for a company that had an account set up with them that a delivery truck would come to the place and we would go out to the truck after work - they put the stuff in my car. It was great and the food was really good - very fresh.

Ive done it - and I will again after the baby comes I think. Its great - and prevents me from buying things I dont really need just because I am hungry

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
I use Fresh Direct and have been very pleased with the service. The quality is outstanding - especially the meat & produce dept. But, they don't have my brand preference for a couple of items which I don't happen to use frequently so I don't care too much.
The prices are OK, I don't feel like they are over priced but you can get better prices in the stores with sales. But that's for the convenience of shopping from home and having home delivery. Oh, and they don't take coupons.
The delivery is almost always within the 2 hour delivery window...once they were 10-15 minutes late. You can shop off your old orders or you could put things in your cart as you go along and then place the order when you are ready.
I would recommend them.

I've used FreshDirect a few times, and i think they are great. Prices aren't great, but aren't terrible either. I can get better prices on sales in the store. Their meat and produce is so fresh and such good quality. It's definitely worth it to try it, especially if they still have an introductory discount

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
We used peapod when we both had the flu and did NOT want to go out shopping. If you order over $100 the fee is significantly lower. We were 100% pleased with it. Everything was to a t, and they even picke dout great fresh produce. The prices were a tad high on the produce, but everything else was about right. totally worth it if you're sick or busy or taking care of kids. You pick everyhting out online just how you would at the store. i kind of like it better than the store. it's more organized, and you can see a running total of your bill/

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
we've used Peapod, it is really great, you get to compare and shop and actually save $ because you don' impulse shop. The only thing is that you have to make sure you know what size you are orderng, for instance I ordered a bag of carrot sticks and I figured they were regular size, but it was tiny. You really have to pay attention to the oz. on each product. Definitey worth it, I will use it once the baby is born for sure. They bring it right up to your kitchen and you unload as they check off the item. They send you coupns too, the last 2 deliveries were FREE!!!! I had $220 worth of groceries.

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
we use fresh direct and love it. we compared prices to the prices in the grocery store, and at least in manhattan, fresh direct is much much cheaper. i'm talking like $.40-$.50 on most items. we got stuff delivered last night and were surprised and pleased to find 2 bottles of blue gatorade in there that we didn't order. not sure what that was about, but it was cool

Re: Anyone have groceries delivered?
I used to get our groceries from peapod.com, but since we moved they don't deliver to our area. I was totally bummed about that. I loved getting them delivered.

a friend of mine uses them - especially for the heavy stuff, so she can carry the baby and not the loads of water, detergent, etc.....
