anyone have Home Depot install your cabinets??
between the installation itself and the cost of the electric / plumbing work.. was it really expensive??

I got an estimate from them and they were outrageous! They sub contract the work. I think it is just better to cut out the middle man.

yea i have been hearing that they charge alot for it..
thats where i am stuck.. if we just buy the cabinets.. i dont know who can do the installation..

check out www.servicemagic.com to someone that can install. They give you three contractors in your area and you can get quotes from them. We have been doing this for some work around our house. So far so good.

My parents used them, and I'm not sure about the cost vs. other places but they were totally unhappy with the subcontractor used for the job. They did very shoddy work and after many phone calls and complaints, finally they sent a different guy out who had to fix everything.

when my dad does installs he charges $70-75 a foot- which I think is cheap...usually it's more.

Home Depot charges $150(ish) per cabinet for installation! I think that's mighty high and you can def do better!

Before we redid our kitchen we had HD come give a free quote for cabinet refacing, not even new ones, and it was $13,000!!!  We purchased our cabinets and did them ourselves from Ikea for $4,000. Quite a savings.

PLEASE DON'T DO IT. THEY ARE THE WORST!!!!!
If you do a search on my name and home depot or expo you might be able to find my previous posts on this matter but please heed my warning - do not use them. it took them 4 months to do the teeniest tiniest kitchen ever, that they could have finished in two weeks. I know this because they only showed up for about 10 of the days in that four month period. FM if you want more details but basically the contractors that they use are contractors that can't get other work. you might have a little bit better luck right now since a lot of contractors are struggling and desperate but in regular times, their contractors are the BOTTOM OF THE BARREL.

Hey Deanna,
I have a friend who does contracting work and hasnt had much work lately. He came to my house and did whatever we needed for $150 for the day. I am not sure if that is a "friend" price but I am sure it wouldnt be much more than that especially if he has been out of work. If you want his info let me know. He lives in Levittown.
