Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
I was having some issues with bleeding, and the doctor took my blood work and found out I have low Progestrone. I had a sono done twice and everything looked good and I got to see and hear a nice heart beat. I'm 7 weeks today and tonight will be my first time taking the suppositories. I'm concerned about taking them, since I see mixed reviews on-line. Alot of people say it is only good if you take them before you get pregnant. Others say that you are just prolonging a failed pregnancy. I'm going to doctor on Monday again, and will ask her about my concerns, but just wanted to see how others did with taking these. Also anyone have any side effects. I'm already dealing with horrible M/S and feel drained all day. I had not one issue with my first PG. It went well from begining to end, so this is all new to me.

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
I haven't come across any info like that. Progesterone is commonly used during pregnancy as far as I know.
I used prometrium week 16 to try to resolve my short cervix issues. It didn't really help so I had a cerclage.
I am now getting weekly injections of progesterone (17P) also for cervix issues. I believe this is helping now because things have been stable since I started with the injections and before them it kept getting shorter.
Good luck!

I had to use them when my levels were low around 8 weeks. My baby boy is now almost 9 months old and beautiful. I definitely don't believe the suppositories just prolong a failed pregnancy. Sometimes our bodies don't do what they are suppose to do and we need a little extra help.

NEVER use GOOGLE!!!!!! So many crappy stories out there! LOTS of women have used Progesterone to help a PG along. Once the placenta gets big enough it will begin to make progesterone and you can come off of the suppositories. I used it, but did start beforehand because we did IVF. Good luck, I hope everything works out.

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
I used it during my first pregnancy...I think I started it about 5 1/2 weeks and continued until i was out of my 1st trimester.
I really don't remember any side effects. I do remember that I did use them at night for less of a mess
But I had a healthy baby girl

I used Crinone until 11 weeks and was on prometrium from 8-11 weeks also. Once you hit around 11 weeks or so, placenta takes over.

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
you are NOT prolonging a failed pregnancy. My progesterone was so low that my Dr thought for sure I was going to miscarry. He put me on progesterone (orals thought , not the suppositories) I am now 22 weeks pregnant. So , low progesterone does not automatically mean you are going to miscarry. Stay positive!!
On a side note, the progesterone barely brought up my levels, so throughout the first tri my levels were so low and everything turned out fine for me.
I will try to find/bump my thread

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
you are not prolonging a failed pregnancy at all!!! I was on progesterone suppositories from before conceptions till 5 weeks. My #'s were still not high enough, so they put me on PIO injections from 5-7or 8 w. Then we switched back to suppositories till 10 weeks.
I'm 24W with So even with 2 little monkeys my #'s were not climbing and everyone is healthy to date.

I started using them when I was a little over 4 weeks pregnant. I had to use them until I was 10 or 11 weeks. I'm not sure what my levels were but the progesterone worked fine and here I am at 35 weeks ready to pop. Good luck!

Thanks everyone! I hope everything works out and I have a healthy pregnancy. For right now I'm taking it day by day, and not getting overly excited just yet.

Those things are what helped my SILs pg finally "stick". After 3 m/c, she then finally had a healthy PG and now has a very healthy toddler.

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
I used Crinone last time and i have to use them now after Ovulation...
Did they tell you how low your # was... they didnt tell me mine but i found out through my insurance... it went from 15.6 to 7.4... i think at that point it was too late because it was over a week between the two tests and it probably did the damage already... thats why they are having me start after O... but idk if that will even be successful !

Re: Anyone have to use Progesterone Suppositories during pregnancy?
I was on them from 5-12 weeks. My progesterone levels werent evxactly where my RE wanted them to be so she put me on them. At one point I was on them 3 times a day. I am now 17 weeks along. My ob said everything is going great. My only complaints are that theres A LOT of discharge, they made me feel sick and I spotted a few times because of it. Other than that, it was worth it.

No they didn't tell me numbers. I plan on asking Monday. I'm so scared of getting another sono Monday.
