I had white when we moved in. The walls were a yellowy-tan and the counter tops where pink
We still have white in the bathroom and we have a dark maroon. I love it. And for a while we had a white in the living room with a tan (I think BM stone house) and it looked nice.

We have white cabinets, charcoal gray & SS appliances, grayish black granite counter, terracota floors(I have no idea how the floors played into this whole look). We purchased the house like this and we were stumped because the the counter has royal blue specs in it if you stand over it directly. We ended up painting it a lighter version of pea soup green and I love it. I orginaly wanted this color in here but my DH fought me on it because he didn't think it would go. The main living space in my house is this green color actually.

We painted our kitchen BM Nantucket Gray (greenish-gray) and will - eventually - do a white subway tile backsplash.
Here's a messy pic, but you can see the color on the walls:

we have blue pearl granite and the floors and backsplash are a blue/gray color- more pics in album
