Anyone hear about the 2 year old girl found in the middle of the night on the street by herself?

I can't find a link if you didnt hear about it. Basically a 2 year old girl was found around 2 am on a street sidewalk in the city wearing nothing but her diaper. The police found where she lived after going door to door asking. The mother had left the baby in the care of someone else while she was out for a few hours. Both the babysitter AND the mother were arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

My question is why was the mother also arrested too? Obviously if we leave our kids with someone we think they are going to take care of them. How is the mother also responsible for this? Is there maybe more to the story?

I did not see/hear about this but my gut instinct tells me that whoever the mother left the kid with was obviously not suited to care for a child (drunk? drug addict? sex offender?) and the mother must have known/should have known that... and that's why she was arrested. Just my guess. How awful.

There's prob more to the story. I had a similar situation where i work - i found a 5 year old wandering the streets around 7am on a weekend morning. Turned out the mother got wasted at a party and had someone else take him home for the night. When i knocked on their door, thr whole household was still asleep and had no idea he was gone. I only arrested the woman who was in charge of taking care of him. But acs was notified of the entire situation.
