Anyone here not had prenatal consultation b4 picking pediatrician?
Any parent here just picked a pediatrician based on recommendation w/o going through an interview/prenatal consultation?

I did not interview ours. He was recommended by my OB, whose own daughter used the same ped for my OB's grandson. I spoke to the receptionist, who said that they didn't do interviews, but most people look at their website, which answers most questions and if I still had any questions, they would talk on the phone. I was fine with that and ended up being very happy with them.

I saw two peds before I had my son.
It actually turned out to be a waste of time IMO.
I went with one practice, and on my second visit was so offended by one of the doctors that I switched practices immediately. So far I'm happy with my new doctor - even though I didn't care for her after the interview.
I feel like its something I have to experince first hand. I didn't get much from the interview.

yes i did. I'm not happy with them at all DS is 4 weeks and I will be switching practices. I had a consult. appt with them but DS was born early (2 days before my appt)

I didn't have one. I chose a ped based on family recommendations and the girls on here. We are very happy with our decision!

We did not. Our pediatrician doesn't have them.
We were thinking of using them anyway, but then a nurse in our birthing class raved about them (she used them for her children)- so it just solidified our decision. We couldn't be happier with them!

Our ped doesnt do consults so we went just on the recommendation of our OB who uses this ped. Also, half my town uses them so I assume if they are good enough for everyone else, they are good enough for us. So far we have been very happy.
I was worried at first but the way I thought about it was, you aren't married to them. if you don't like them, you can always switch.

I didn't. My OB/GYN recommended one and then I asked around and heard great things, so I never bothered going for a consultation. So far I've been very happy.

Kinda, sorta. I interviewed a ton of pediatricians - but wound up going with Grello Pediatrics because I went to school with Steve and my sister went to school with Ciro and Fred. And another family member was good friends with Tim George in high school.

I didn't have one with Emma's doctor. I just used the ped. on call at the hospital and have been using her ever since. I really like her and the practice.

One of the ladies I used to work with recommended Mid Suffolk Pediatrics so we went with them. They have been great so far and we never met with them before having DD.

Thanks everyone, I may just wing it and pick a recommended one then if I don't like it switch practices. Not that there are alot of choices when one has to stay within network! :P

Never met my pedi until in the hospital, i was referred to him from someone on here and he was literally down the street from me and I really like him.

I didnt have an interview. But we picked them ahead of time because they were referred to us. And they're great!

No, I didn't meet him until I delivered. Basically, though, he is the only one that does the babies in our hospital & he's on our insurance & his office is close. Turns out, he's very good & we like him.

We didn't do any prenatal consultations. We got our pediatrician through a recommendation by a genetic counselor. We love the practice but figured if we didn't we'd just switch.
