Anyone highlighting their hair?
My hair looks awful and my dr said that its fine to get it done after the first trimester but I am such a worry wart that I figured I won't do it. Plus I want to try to breast feed for the first few months and I would imagine that you can't do it then either, right? My DH keeps telling me that I should do it because the dr said its ok and I will feel better for the holidays.

yes I have mine done and I am about to get it done again. When they do the highlights, the dye doesnt actually touch your scalp - its not like full color. My doctor said it was perfectly fine.

Re: Anyone highlighting their hair?
I never asked my doctor about it - but did talk to my hair girl about it - and she said to wait. So I am listening to her

Re: Anyone highlighting their hair?
I got my hair high-lighted at 20 weeks. Its fine, as long as the dye doesn't touch the scalp, So i've heard.

Re: Anyone highlighting their hair?
I colored my hair (not highlighted) throughout both pregnancies. It was a single process
I heard that too from my hairdresser about it being ok as long as it wasn't touching my scalp. Not sure what my ob/gyn would say about that one. I do know that depending on the doctor - they'll tell you it's ok to color or not to color.

I feel like you do. I'm going to the Dr. tonight, and I'm going to ask him. I'l probably get it done if he says ok, and I'll just tell the hair girl to take extra time and be sure it doesn't touch my scalp. I'm still worried though that some will get in when they rinse the stuff out. I definately have to do something though!!!

I know you didn't really ask for our opinions on wheter you should do it but asked for whether or not we highlighed out hair. But in the interest of your sanity, I'm volunteering my 2 cents. I'm going to have to agree with your DH. It's hard enough dealing with the emotions, the hormones, the changes in your body - being unhappy with your hair is unnecessary . If your ob/gyn said it was ok, then do it. Pregnancy hair is supposed to be fabulous. Take advantage of it.

Re: Anyone highlighting their hair?
Thanks. I have an appt tomorrow. I am going somewhere new because the place I used to go to is too far. I hope they can match up the colors to whatever I have going on in my hair. I'll let you know how it goes.
