Anyone in/near Smithtown just hear that.....
Did anyone just hear like a series of explosions? Almost like a truckload of fireworks exploded one right after the other? DH & I just heard it & we can't figure it out. Hoping it wasn't an accident on 347. I hope not, because that sound was BAD!!! Anyone else hear it?

I JUST posted the same thing....WTH was that? At first I thought it was firewoks, but then it got louder and was one after the other, and then the sky lit up twice like 4th of July but just in one spot.

That was insane. We looked out our windows upstairs, but couldn't see anything. I'm just hoping we don't hear ambulance or fire engine sirens soon.

I was leaving Smithaven Mall around the time you guys posted this and there was a ton of police cars and fire trucks (cheif trucks) in the parking lot across from the entrance by the food court on the Bobby's Burger Palace side but it didn't look like anything was going on. Then we exited the mall and made a left on middle country rd (heading east bound) and the first street that runs north and south next to the mall (by Macys) was blocked off with police officers and flares. Accident on that road maybe?

Me and my DW heard it as well, we thought it was transformers...If it was by the mall, that was pretty far from us, but sounded like it was a few blocks away.

years ago when I lived in Smithtown, they set of $40,000 worth of fireworks at what is now the Healthcare Facility. It was being built at the time and they set it off and destroyed the building. WHAT a noise!! Shook the house and lit up the skies.
I can totally relate to what you heard last night!

It was one right after the other.....kind of consistent. Then as soon as we put the TV on mute......it stopped. We are quite far from the mall so if it was something that happened there, then sound travels reallllllllllllly far.
I thought it was fireworks also........but I guess it wasnt?

It sounded like bombs going off. DH and I were a little freaked out. Im in Hauppauge and it sounded really close.
