Anyone in Real Estate or know someone?
Is anyone in Real Estate or know someone in Real Estate that can give me advice? DH says we won’t be ready to start looking for a house for a year and a half. He swears that the market will continue to go down and won’t be going up anytime soon. I’ve had multiple people tell me that they will start to rise within the next year. I don’t want to get screwed! Any help on this would be much appreciated!

I think in the end, NO ONE KNOWS! Its all guesses, one's guess is as good as others. It also depends where you are looking. In BKLYN, for instance, prices didn't really drop at all. Same with Nassau, especially closer to the city.. other places, like NJ, you do see prices dropping, but very little. As long as you are not overpaying cause of the hype.. you should be fine.
IMO, now is a good time to buy. You can negotiate - really the buyer has the power. And, even if the prices will continue to drop, which again no one can predict, they will go up again. They have to. And, it depends on how long you are buying for. A year or two may not make sence, but if you plan on staying the place for 5 to 10 years, than yes, I would say its worth it...
