Anyone know anything about epilepsy?
I just found out that my college roommate was recently diagnosed with epilepsy AND found that she is a few weeks pregnant. She is now a high risk pregnancy and the road ahead for her looks quite scary.
Does anyone know anyone with epilepsy? And how about being pregnant with epilepsy?
I feel so sick about this....

my BIL has it. Obviously he is not pregnant, but he is on Dilantin and has been for yrs. to control the seizures.

My cousin has epilepsy and has 2 healthy children. She was on her medication through out both pregnancies. She did have to increase her folic acid intake and was not able to breast feed, but everything else was fine!

Thank you. This is very reassuring. The whole thing just scared me - probably because I am not educated on the issue.

I used to have seizures I'm 37 year's seizure free, Your friend need's to go to a Neurologist and talk to her Dr., I'm sorry this is happening to her... I hope they can do something for her,I dont want to scare you 'But' I dont know if her being Pg is safe right now,because this can harm the baby well this is what my Dr told me. But they will need to watch her and do eeg's on her to make sure that she does not have a seizure and yes she will be a 'High' risk... My prayers are with her and her baby to be!!

Thanks so much, Ro. So glad to hear that you are seizure free!
She was JUST diagnosed with epilepsy, and at the hospital, told she was pregnant at the same time. It definitely wasn't planned. I just pray that her and the baby are safe.
BTW, she has gone to a number of doctors and is seeking treatment.
