Anyone Know anything about requirements for becoming a Guidance Counselor?
Okay, so Week 1 back at work has been difficult to say the least. I left Cameron at daycare and was crying and picked her up in hysterics. Not sure I can do this whole 7am-6pm work in the city thing. I miss my baby and don't really care about the $$ anymore.
Sooooo, that being said, I'm thinking about different career options that might work and being a guidance counselor in the school systmes has always been an interest of mine. But since I graduated college 9 yrs ago, I have no idea where to even begin to see what the requirements are. If fany of you know or could point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.
TIA! signed, a stressed out working mom

Re: Anyone Know anything about requirements for becoming a Guidance Counselor?
Most colleges offer guidance counselor degrees. It is part of their education schools. I never did it but i have a friend who did it. It takes the same amount of time to get as a regular teaching degree and i believe you have to intern for a semester too.
Just an FYI - my friend could only get a job in a catholic school and does not make much $. Another friend cannot find a job and has been out of school about a year and a half.
I believe Mrswask on these boards is a Guidance Counselor. You might want to FM her.
Good Luck. Worse comes to worse look for a job what you do now on LI. It will help out a little bit.
