Anyone know how much dairy is in goldfish?
I had held off on giving them to Colin b/c he has a dairy allergy but never reacts to anything with milk products in it - just direct stuff (cream cheese, yogurt, sometimes cream sauce)
He demanded them a month or so ago when other kids were having them at a playdate - I gave him a couple to see how he did. He had no reaction.
Now I see daycare has given them to him here and there for snack - and no reaction.
At this point his allergy could be gone, as it was always very slight, but curious if anyone knows how "dairy" processed snacks like goldfish are?

Probably depends on which kind, like the pretzel ones probably have less than the orange cheddar ones.
My ds got a contact rash from touching (not eating) the orange cheddar ones in school, so I'd guess they have a decent amount. But he has a severe dairy allergy, a 5 out of 6 on his last RAST test.

it probably has dried milk...but I am not sure who you could figure out what exactly about milk makes him react (the sugar, the protein) and then from there, figure out how much of that it present in a handful of goldfish.
what if you gave him a tiny bit of ice cream or something (super fun so it he reacts it would have been worth it ) would it be very bad (his reaction) or dangerous?

Re: Anyone know how much dairy is in goldfish?
See, I'm at the point that if he doesn't have a reaction then I'm ready to let him have it. He has never had anything more than a rash breakout on his face where the product touched his face - like I said, messy items like yogurt, cream cheese or vodka sauce. Never a reaction to meatballs made with parmesan, things like that. The allergist said he had the milk allergy at 10 months or so. At 14 months he had his 1 yr BW from the ped and the milk allergy came up as .42. The allergist said bring him back at age 2 but that's still 7 months ago and I think we're over it
