In terms of quality, the person looking for the wig will want it custom made, with real human hair.
I don't know of any places in Nassau (I do know a few places in Suffolk County that cater to women undergoing chemo).

You may want to look in the yellow pages and call several places looking for custom human hair wigs. There are usually a lot of ads for these salons.

I am so sorry about your friend
I recommended this site because the founder of this company is a cancer survivor, and she has a statement on the site that is very moving re: the emotions behind loosing hair and wig shopping. She wrote something about how difficult it was to go out and shop for a wig, so she wanted to provide women with the ability to do this in the privacy of their own home.
However, I do completely understand not wanting to just go with some random company/site that has no recommendations from people you know.
Your friend is in my prayers
A friend of mine is a hairdresser in eastern suffolk that is very involved in the breast cancer community. I'll give her a call tomorrow and ask her for some recommendations.

Re: anyone know of a really good wig place in Nassau??
My stepsister went thru chemo and thought she wanted a wig, but wound up finding them extremely uncomfortable... she loved her hair, but wound up wearing pretty scarves instead... Talk to the wig maker - they may be able to let her try a wig in the store to see if she'd be comfortable in it...
So sorry about your friend - good luck!!
