anyone listen to z100 this morning?
ok... i'm not a parent yet, but listening to z100 radio this morning, they were talking about how danielle let her 1 1/2 year old take a mat from applebees ( the thing they put under those sizzling skillets).... she said he was fussy, they gave it to him to play with, and then he didn't want to put it down, so they let him carry it out of there. she said the waiter saw him with it and said ' so, i guess you're taking that with you??" and danielle just said " yup!" and left... now, i know applebees is a huge company and it probably doesn't matter in the grand scheme of thigns... but come on! even though hes young, shes showing him its ok to take whatever he wants... ( she also lets him eat bananas in the store and doesnt' pay for them) like i said, i'm not a parent yet- but what do you BTDT'ers think??

Re: anyone listen to z100 this morning?
My DD is just a year old, and I can't see letting her take something like that out of a restaurant. Like you said, in the grand scheme of thing, 1 mat doesn't really matter to them I'm sure, but what if everybody took one? Also, as you said when will the child learn that some things belong to other people and we can use them for a while, but they aren't ours to keep?
Moreover, I think Danielle's attitude of just saying "Yup!" is despicable. Even if she intended for her child to take the mat, when called on it, she could have pretended she didn't realize he had it, and just said "Oh Jeez, I didn't realize -- sorry", and then put it down.

I agree.... this is totally wrong. You can't just walk out of a restaurant with their property-what kind of lesson was Danielle showing her son (even though he is so young)? I can't stand listening to that show anymore-particularly due to her voice-its so annoying!

First of all, I wouldn't let my kids chew on that since who knows what's on it. I doubt they are running them through the dishwasher to get really clean.
But I think it sets a bad example. Not only for her son, but any other child in the restaurant who heard the conversation, and now any kids listening to the radio heard that it's ok to take what you want without paying for it, as well as to eat food in the grocery store and not pay for it. But maybe I'm a little too goody-goody.

Like Cathy said, I'm a goody-goody too. Also, what lesson are they learning? That they can have whatever they want whenever they want? NOPE. Not for me. But everyone has different parenting styles.

Re: anyone listen to z100 this morning?
She is probably a person who steals the silverware and glasses. I HATE this. So why would it bother her if her kid is taking something? Anyone who would let their child do this obviously does it themselves. Good job lady.
This is why its so expensive to eat out.

Even if she did it..I can't believe she would openly admit it on the air. she obviously did not think she did anything wrong.I can't stand her!

Re: anyone listen to z100 this morning?
i think if the waiter was fine with it then ok but it wasnt like she shoved it in her bag the waiter saw the kid with it and didnt say miss im sorry but that is property of applebees. if that was the case and she walked out with it then i see your point. about the banana situation. i take my daughter who is 15 months old to the food store with me. she wants everything she sees. i recently gave her a banana but made the cashier aware that she ate it and to weigh an extra banana and she said no problem.
