Re: Anyone live in Lake Grove?
I live near there and my SIL lives even closer in Nesconset. I think it is a nice area. I would also look at Nesconset and Smithtown. Lake Grove is VERY congested even during the week. On the weekends I avoid it like the plague. Where my SIL lives ae mostly center hall vcolonials. Great houses. There are also some ranches and capes.

Thank you for the info. I will check out Smithtown & Nesconset too. I do like Smithtown.

Re: Anyone live in Lake Grove?
I don't live in Lake Grove but we are closing on our house in Nesconset at the end of the month. I personally love the area. I love being close to the mall, other stores and etc. Like a previous poster said, 347 gets very crowded in the evenings and on the weekends. But I have learned to navigate my way around by using side streets. Also, where our house is it is south of 347 which means we won't have to drive on 347. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Good luck!!!

That was where we looked except we added Commack to our search as well. Great areas! Keep in touch and let me know if you have any other questions. I did a ton of research on the area. Good luck!!!

Re: Anyone live in Lake Grove?
I lived in Lake Grove for many years. It is a very nice area. The traffic is murder, but I think it is like that in the other towns you are considering as well. Rte. 25 in Smithtown is the worst road I've had to drive yet; Rte. 111 in Hauppague/Nesconset is a mob-scene as well. I think anywhere you go if you're on the main roads they're extremely crowded at this point.
ETA: Not really sure where in Lake Grove you are considering, but some houses there are Middle Country schools, while others are Three Village.

Are the Middle Country schools not that good? I can't find them on the websites for schools. We are still looking and haven't found anything yet, but I'm hopeful! Or at least I'm trying to be. Thanks for the comments!

Middle Country Schools are good. I find Lake Grove to be a bit conjested though. The mall really burdens the area for travel. Its so beautiful in there though

Re: Anyone live in Lake Grove?
I grew up in Lake Grove (within the Incorp. Village) and went to Sachem.
My parents still live there. I loved my neighborhood growing up. It was (and still is) a great community. My only disappointment with the general area is the increase in homes and the congestion. It seems everytime I return home to see my parents, there's another neighborhood popping up.

I was just about to say that. Granted that there are places where the traffic might be a bit more than other areas but I find that this is starting to be the norm.
